Roll up, roll up!

The old one is full, so post your Corrie thoughts and observations here.

Yes Doodledog and Charleygirl, Corrie was much more gentle in days of old. Probably most television was, and you’re right, it’s probable that most families don’t watch Corrie nowadays. Whenever our grandchildren stay with us through, I don’t put Corrie on until they’re in bed. I just don’t think it’s suitable for them.

I think Elaine’s gone to stay with her friend, but I’m hoping Stephen’s not killed her too.
Carla is going to be on to him soon, she’s had a sample of her hair analysed, and it’ll come back positive for LSD.

I remember that scene Primrose53. His nephew David might be instrumental in his downfall. He’s never been Stephen’s no. 1 fan.

Stephen is very strong. He lifted Leo single handedly from the bin and into the van. Then when it was Leo’s Dad’s turn he lifted him up into the car roof box and managed to lift off the entire roof box containing the body and launch it into the canal.

Remember when Stephen borrowed Audrey’s car to move a body. He pulled up in the street and somebody said Audrey was looking for him as she needed the car back. There was a small crowd but i think it was David who asked what he needed the top box on the car for and he said “to move some sewing machines”. Industrial machines would not fit in there and he wouldn’t be able to lift them either.

I hope he doesn't kill Tim! I like him, the massive daftie grin.

Where did his mum go, incidentally?

Grannynannywanny Wed 20-Sept-23 21:04:40

That was a helpful flashback of the murders to refresh our memories if needed. What a wally going to poke a stick in the canal to check for the roof box containing Ted’s body. No doubt in the next episode Tim’s mobile will ring in the Rovers and Stephen will recognise his silly ringtone and realise Tim saw him on the canal bank.

Watch your back Tim !

Na na na na na na hey hey o goodbye🎶
Love it

So it's definitely Leo! And Jenny seems to be in the frame.

Please don't let them drag this out, with Jenny in jail and Psycho Stephen still on the loose?

Charleygirl5 Wed 20-Sept-23 19:29:55

Maddyone I think in our younger days it was better written and more reliant on subtle humour than murders, assisted dying etc.

Doodledog Wed 20-Sept-23 18:50:33

There is a lot more choice than when we were children though - I don't know that many children will still be watching. My daughter used to watch it with me 25 years ago, but she long since moved onto other channels as they became available. I don't think many younger people (including parents of young children) watch a lot of live TV - they stream when it's convenient.

I know what you mean though. Soaps are less about domestic drama than gangsters and murderers these days.

maddyone Wed 20-Sept-23 18:41:51

I am a bit concerned about some of the storylines to be honest. Bearing in mind that some children watch Corrie. I watched it myself as a child. So many murders, assisted dying, drug use and rapes, it makes me think Corrie should be on after nine pm, after the watershed. I don’t remember any themes like this being shown when I was a child.

Doodledog Wed 20-Sept-23 18:10:39

Yes, I think so. Stephen killed Rufus in the swimming pool with the drugged G&T, Leo on the balcony with. . .gravity, and Leo's dad in the office with the hole punch grin

Not quite Cleudo, but the best I could do.

BlueBelle Wed 20-Sept-23 16:53:47

Is Craigy a plain clothes detective now, boy that step up came quickly
Who was the person Stephen clubbed in the office one evening was that Leo s dad I ve forgotten ?

Doodledog Wed 20-Sept-23 16:08:22

Good old Craig. Where would we be without him?

I googled 'who has step. . . .' and got as far as that before it autocompleted to 'Who has Stephen killed on Coronation Street?' grin. The answer is three, Leo, his dad and Rufus, so we haven't overlooked anyone.

LovesBach Wed 20-Sept-23 15:58:39

Given that Leo's Dad is bobbing about in the canal (why hasn't he surfaced? ) and Rufus had a conventional funeral, this body must be Leo, but could be someone more recently buried - that hand looked dirty, but not decomposed. Ugghh. Craig also seemed to be to the fore - that boy is doing well.
Did Paul not get compensation for something ? I too tend to glaze over at times, and miss a significant moment.

Charleygirl5 I think they bought a second hand stair lift from one of Billy’s parishioners and Ed Bailey fitted it.

I’m another one confused about Billy’s financial situation. He was permanently skint and looking for ways to raise money . Now he has such great cash flow he can consider arranging a funeral for Shelley and possibly an early departure for himself. Surely he’s not raised all that from his brief involvement in a few dodgy laptops.

Not only am I confused about Paul’s financial situation I’m confused about his name. I’ve just called him Billy !

Grannynannywanny Wed 20-Sept-23 08:45:13

😆

Doodledog Wed 20-Sept-23 08:22:23

Are you suggesting it’s not real, BlueBelle? 😳

BlueBelle Wed 20-Sept-23 07:55:45

I can’t believe Shelly had made £10,000 from a few dodgy market sales
I can’t believe ‘what’s her face’ would be involved with a school leaver
I can’t believe Dev would have them sleeping under his roof
I forgot one of the bodies went in the canal i can’t believe it hasn’t popped up yet
Soon Ryan’s whole face will be red it’s moving I swear it is it has a life of it’s own

Grannynannywanny Wed 20-Sept-23 07:53:13

I vaguely remember him stealing cars to fund Gemma’s wedding.

Doodledog Wed 20-Sept-23 07:51:14

Paul did some dodgy deals himself though - was it delivering drugs?

Grannynannywanny Wed 20-Sept-23 07:50:28

Crossed posts Doodledog !

Doodledog Wed 20-Sept-23 07:37:14

Yes, there is a stairlift.

I assume the money is coming from Shellie’s ill-gotten gains. That was quite a neat idea to explain his sudden spending power.

Charleygirl5 Wed 20-Sept-23 07:26:38

Is there a stairlift at Paul and Billy's place as I have been puzzling how the wheelchair, never mind Paul, gets up and down stairs.

Has Paul got the odd £10k to take him to Switzerland? I doubt it.

The scar did appear to be larger last night and I think it is different makeup artists. I also thought as time goes by it should fade a bit but last night it looked really red and angry.
