Am I being a bit slow but why is Phillip Schofield being thrown under the bus now? He came out about his sexuality , now revelations about an affair with consensual teenager that he covered up to protect identity , Maybe I'm being naïve but not sure why there has been such a big disconnect from TV at this point .

It could only be a very stupid person who could be bored with
Stephen Fry

Absolutely!

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-23 15:44:06

I doubt people have said that to Stephen , people tend not to make unkind personal remarks directly but snigger quietly

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Jun-23 15:50:36

Yes, that’s very true.
It’s a shame, because Stephen really is quite a catch, whatever one’s gender/ sexuality.

Leave the poor b*gger alone.

My thoughts exactly.

rafichagran Sat 03-Jun-23 15:55:48

Oops, perhaps B..... was the wrong word.

And ‘sod’ is no better…

On consecutive days this week, I turned the TV on ‘at the top of the hour’ and on Sky, BBC1, ITV and GB news the leading story has been Phillip Schofield, and newspapers are almost as bad. Personally, I have never been a fan, but I feel concerned about the effect that the constant media coverage is having on him, just how much is one person supposed to take? It seems that every day journalists are digging out titbits to add to this sorry tale. There is going to be an investigation. Can’t we just leave it at that? Schofield’s life is no doubt in shatters, but on a day when you consider what else is going on in this country, and in the world, it is really only of significance to those directly involved. Do they think we have descended to a point where we are salivating for the next distasteful pronouncement? We have a Schofield embargo here, if the name is mentioned the channel is changed, but even so, it is still difficult to avoid.

Perhaps I should have added, what has happened is naturally of significance, but instead of this constant drip feeding, can we just wait for the report from the Barrister when hopefully the facts will be proven, and not just Tittle tattle?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 03-Jun-23 16:21:28

I’m not sure there is going to be a report, it was simply said (on here, I don’t listen to or read the ridiculous amount of news coverage) that PS was paying for a barrister to look after the young man’s interests, whatever that might mean. PS hasn’t helped to get this out of the headlines by deciding to give an interview.

Even if you never watch TM, have little or no interest in PS Or HW it has been impossible not to be aware of what has been going on, every news channel, every paper and so much online. I had never seen the TM episode where he came out but went and found it online, embarrassing and way over the top, cringeworthy to watch. His interview this week was similar, all about him, why did he not consider the young man, his wife and daughters. He could have shown a little more decorum (old fashioned word but apt). I think he put on a very good show in an attempt to gain as much sympathy as possible, of course he came across as upset, he has been found to be lying to family, friends and colleagues. As others have said this is about a cover up in an effort to keep the squeaky clean image that he chose to portray.

Yet again - people having affairs do lie to family and friends

Iam64 Sat 03-Jun-23 16:59:47

Yet again the problem here isn’t ‘an affair’

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-23 17:10:43

A relationship, a bit on the side, an affair, people lie

Kate1949 Sat 03-Jun-23 17:22:57

I must be a very stupid person as I can imagine being bored by Stephen Fry. We don't all find the same people interesting.

FannyCornforth Sat 03-Jun-23 17:31:44

Stephen Fry is incredibly knowledgeable about Wilde, Wodehouse and Chesterton.
That alone would keep me interested

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-23 17:40:14

He is also very kind, gentle and caring

Louella12 Sat 03-Jun-23 17:41:47

I love Stephen Fry ❤️

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 03-Jun-23 17:42:37

And funny. I know he’s gay but what do they say about the best way to get a woman into bed?

Kate1949 Sat 03-Jun-23 17:48:44

Not for me but we are all different. It's showbiz. Nobody really knows them as we are finding out.

Anniebach Sat 03-Jun-23 17:50:30

I do know Stephen Fry

downtoearth Sat 03-Jun-23 17:51:07

Stephen Fry would be my choice of a companion, dinner guest,or just a mate to have a coffee with, and I live quite near his Norfolk home, and find him very attractive, it is his voice.

Kate1949 Sat 03-Jun-23 17:54:04

Well I apologise Annie .

Sarah79 Sat 03-Jun-23 18:04:17
