I much admire Lesley Manville having seen her in Mum,Mrs.Harris and other things. She is so versatile and this was confirmed by her appearance in Let Him Go, a neo-western set in Montana and Dakota where she plays the matriarch of a hill billy community. It was on Film 4 last night. I don’t know how big a part she has as I have only seen the first half and she has only just come into it.

I watched it she was brilliant in it every character she plays she does to perfection. She most currently is in Citadel and she is another strong character in that too.

Greenfinch: Lesley Manville is a great actress but in my opinion Let Him Go is the most upsetting film I have ever seen. If you enjoy watching a childs life be destroyed (even fictional) then crack on.
I endured it because we were staying with friends and we all agreed to watch a film. My husband was so upset he got up and went to bed part way through, and I wish I had as well. It was only politeness that kept me in the same room.

I do agree . When I watched the second half I too found it very upsetting and not at all as I expected from the blurb in The Times advertising it. The gory violence was horrendous and I had to look away.
