๐Ÿ‘‹ Hello, Ken Bruce fans!

Gentle reminder that Popmaster TV begins tonight, 8pm More4 channel.

I've listened to it daily for many years, recently followed Ken to Greatest Hits Radio, so I'll have a look and see how it transfers to TV.

What do you think?

Thanks for the pointer, Iโ€™ll record as weโ€™re out at quiz.

Grannmarie Mon 26-Jun-23 19:29:09

Enjoy your quiz night, Jaxjacky!

Pittcity Mon 26-Jun-23 20:36:55

Watched the first half and find it difficult.

nadateturbe Mon 26-Jun-23 20:43:31

I'll give it a go. I listen on radio too.

Pittcity Mon 26-Jun-23 20:48:42

I feel good that I got a few answers, even guessed a year!

Grannmarie Mon 26-Jun-23 20:50:41

I'm enjoying it, nadateturbe, although it's a very different format.
It is quite difficult, Pittcity, especially the year, I'd be lucky to get 'one year out!'
Didn't realise that there would be advert breaks, we didn't get that on Radio 2 ๐Ÿ“ป

Well done! My era is 60s and 70s, I'm no good on this century.

Not sure about this format?
Enjoyed the end when he did the original Pop master..but not sure??

Grannmarie Mon 26-Jun-23 21:15:57

I agree, Visgirl, like you I enjoyed the Original Popmaster at the finale, but a bit unsure about the new rounds.
Anyway, I love a quiz, especially a pop quiz, so I'll series link it so that I can watch it without the ads.

I see that Phil ' The Collector ' Swern is an executive producer, along with Ken Bruce and Zoe Tait. I think he's been involved with Popmaster from the very beginning, he also works with Tony Blackburn's Sounds of the 60s and Johnny Walker's Sounds of the 70s, quite a legend.

Jaxjacky Wed 28-Jun-23 08:55:29

We watched it, it was ok, but Ken seemed a bit stilted, Iโ€™m sure heโ€™ll relax more as it continues.

nadateturbe Wed 28-Jun-23 09:55:15

Was very tired so only watched the first round on catchup. So far I found it a bit boring. Prefer the radio quiz. Will watch the rest later.

I've watched Monday and Tuesday's episodes, the young men yesterday had incredible pop knowledge.
I'll stick with it awhile, I do like a pop quiz.

I've watched both episodes and think it's a lot harder than the radio version, which I try and listen to every day. I did the radio version a few years back and have the t-shirt to prove it! Wouldn't be brave enough to apply for the TV version though!,

Grannmarie Wed 28-Jun-23 17:13:33

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ granfromafar, yes I agree it is very difficult on the TV version. I think the radio quiz is getting harder too, or maybe that's because it takes me longer to recall the answers I know. Well done on your Onr Year Out! T-shirt!

Grannmarie Wed 28-Jun-23 22:57:21

I've just found today's episode in my recordings. I didn't realise that it is on every day this week. I'll watch it now, fast forward the ads.

I agree, Ken is an excellent presenter and puts contestants at their ease. Ian from Bathgate was incredibly knowledgeable.
It's a very well put together quiz, but quite difficult.
