Just watching something on Ch 4 catchup and it said there’s a new series starting soon. Can’t wait! First series is on catchup.

Even on the third watching I’m bursting out laughing at the same things! And I keep saying to myself ‘may your transition be joyful’. I was lucky in that I did sail through the menopause ( although I did take testosterone for a while which made me chuckle at the scene in the doctors surgery). Strange that Jerome Flynn plays such wonderful, lovable characters because Lena Headey refused to film any scene with him in GOT’s after having had a relationship with him. I guess it’s called acting. And I think I’ve gained more understanding of LGBG stuff from Ryan’s ( who I love) character than anything else I’ve ever seen or read. I even chuckle to myself when I’m doing something else and think about funny comments in it. I do get a bit obsessed with programmes, though.

I hadn't seen Jerome Flynn on screen for a while - good to see him in this.

It’s one of those dark comedies that has me laughing one minute
It's not often we can laugh out loud at a TV comedy these days but this is one!

Neither did Cider with Rosie. Laurie Lee was lucky that they let him move back after he wrote the book. I read a book called A Child in the Forest by Winifred Foley years ago: I must dig it out and re read it.

‘The show also includes a family of inbred, myopic, dysfunctional people with a criminal bent’….Wikipedia’s description of Maximum Bob. Yes, I see where you’re coming from with that one grin!

Oh dear, not showing Forest of Dean in a good light then!!
😂

I've watched two episodes now, looking forward to the village hall scene.
Some of the accents are a bit dodgy.

I’ve never heard of that. I’ll Google it. I don’t understand why Ch4 aren’t giving it more publicity. It’s one of those dark comedies that has me laughing one minute and then finding that my eyes are welling up ( which to me is the secret of good comedy). And I love Joy, even though her character is similar to her character in Motherland and she irritated me in that. And I love Ryan. The Eel Sisters are straight out of Coen brothers films. And I love the music, too. The village hall meeting scene is an absolute classic!

Brilliant show, I recommended it to my sister, who also loved it. For me, it brought to mind Maximum Bob which is my all time favourite t.v. show. That said, I've never come across anyone else who's seen Maximum Bob so perhaps I have a strange sense of humour.

My daughters just binge watched it. And someone on another forum binge watched it last night!

Callistemon21 Mon 03-Jul-23 11:25:31

I must watch it!

Currently rewatching it for the third time. Throw in a bit of the Coen brothers, too. And maybe The Mighty Boosh. Bridget Christie has also done a BBC podcast called Mortal. Listened to that last night. She made it during lockdown and I assume it’s where the idea for The Change came from. Only downside is it ends on a cliffhanger and a second series hasn’t been commissioned yet.

And it’s written and starring Bridget Christie’s who played Annie in Ghosts….

Must point out there’s a lot of swearing in it. But the music is very Detectorist’ish. John Renbourne I think….

This was mentioned on Must Watch the other day and I just caught it while channel hopping. It looks great. Sort of Detectorists meets Jam and Jerusalem. Paul Whitehouse is in it and one of the guys from Ghosts/ Horrible Histories. Tempted to watch it in +1 but I think I need to start from episode one on catchup…
