Not a great deal of grunting. Women. Can be worse.

Louella12 Sun 16-Jul-23 19:16:12

My mother would have fought you for him!

Even worse is the noises from the players.
I don’t actually watch it but DH has it on and the grunts and shouts drive me mad.

John Newcombe there

I fully intended to marry John Newcombe in the 70s

Who is Murray sitting next to?

Jack is a security bod. Blue suit sitting looking at the crowd and not the tennis

Thanks Whitewave
The commentators keep mentioning him

kittylester Sun 16-Jul-23 17:34:58

Don't know her name - see I need captions!

His mixed doubles partner.

I thought I’d seen her before - 👍

Sorry - a diversion, please forgive me Kitty, but I’ve been ranting to poor old DH about this all week (and he does agree with me, well done him 😊).

But why oh why are the uniforms of the lines people (I know that this is the wrong term) at least two sizes too small?

Cinched waists on portly men; buttons straining on averagely proportioned breasts; shoulders about to burst at the seams…

Why?

I agree with you on this Fanny. Some of those line judges could look a bit tidier.
Who is that woman beside Andy?

Anniebach Sun 16-Jul-23 17:28:12

John Newcombe there

My husband called out from the other room "Brad Pitt" is a spectator, I did think about joining him in front of the telly, but then I decided "nah I'll have to watch the tennis , just to get a brief glimpse of BP is it worth it? so I carried on reading my book" He does keep telling me "it's ever so exciting" I suppose having Brad in the audience could possibly make it so! I'm not a tennis fan as you may have guessed, Although I did go to Wimbledon as a teenager years and years ago, my friend's brother was a ball boy and somehow she got us in, it was the days of Nastase, she had a crush!

Jack is the rather large security guard.

I saw Stefan Edberg but no-one commented.

Who is this Jack whom they keep referring to?

Cabbie21 Sun 16-Jul-23 17:14:25

The umpire must be reading Gransnet as he just asked people to be silent before the serve. And the commentators are currently naming all sort of people!

tickingbird Sun 16-Jul-23 17:12:27

Brad again, as gorgeous as ever 😍😍

FannyCornforth Sun 16-Jul-23 17:12:08

Cabbie21

Agreed.
I also wish spectators would not shout out when everyone else is quiet just before the next serve.

‘Come on Tim!!’

FannyCornforth Sun 16-Jul-23 17:11:13

There was an old chap, putting his jumper on, obscuring the screen 20 minutes ago.
I was surprised that the camera man didn’t employ some sort of poking device

I do wish that there were captions when the camera zooms in on someone watching. I spend ages trying to work out if I should know them and, if so, who the Dickens they are and could easily miss a vital bit of the action.

I presume they are 'someone' of the camera wouldn't zoom in!!
