I do wish that there were captions when the camera zooms in on someone watching. I spend ages trying to work out if I should know them and, if so, who the Dickens they are and could easily miss a vital bit of the action.
I presume they are 'someone' of the camera wouldn't zoom in!!
Which commentator was it some years back who caused a fuss when he remarked that one of the female players had to be good because she “was never going to be a looker”?
I can’t remember which commentator it was or the name of the girl he was referring to.
It’s the Andrew Castle awful commentary! Incessant chat! Nothing to do with tennis most of the time! One moment he said Medev was ‘galloping’ and jolloping??? Then pure waffle. Can the Beeb just get McEnroe and Castle to be quiet! We don’t need a full scale autopsy at every shot! And why the chatter over an hour before the actual final? Well done to the Royal children sitting for 5hrs, although they did disappear with their father for a bit. Another question: who pays for all the ‘celebs’ in the Royal box and other ‘est’ seats? Fab tournament, a shame Roger and Rafa weren’t in the audience 👍
At one point he said 'family, trainers' doctors, fitness'. Nothing else I wish he would just stop prattling on.
There is no need to comment on anything except the match.
It's as if he thinks if there's a silence, he has to fill it with meaningless prattle.

School used to take us to the North West Open at Didsbury, it was a few weeks before Wimbledon. We got to see all the big names, it was wonderful. My memory tells me it never rained 😊
Before him was Jimmy Connors but his behaviour paled into insignificance when McEnroe arrived on the scene. Arguing with the Umpire, shouting and smashing racquets.
And there he is, commentating like the father of tennis. 😁

Well, not to be outdone, I saw John Newcombe play Tony Roche on centre court in 1969, having recently finished A levels. I’m sure my love of tennis was based solely on all those fit players … Does anyone remember Tom Okker (alias Knocker Okker)? My best friend was madly in love with him, but I don’t think he was around for long.
My gripe is the commentator Andrew Castle, pontificating prat. He goes on and on,instead of letting us enjoy the tennis. I have always loved Wimbledon and will continue to watch. Even in the newspapers today Andrew Castle has been critised.Nick Kyrios said that whoever the clown was ,he should not speak.
I ball girled for John Newcombe in 1961! He was lovely but a bit old for me even then. I was rooting for cheeky Chuck McKinley 😍 Our school provided ball girls for Queen's Club a week or two before Wimbledon.
Wow how lucky was that!
Anyone remember Henri Leconte? He was the one that made me swoon.
I was lucky enough to be at Wimbledon on Saturday and caught Pat Cash just as he’d come off an outside court and was posing for photos.
