I've never taken to UC, but am delighted to see Only Connect back again. Must be getting old though, as I do prefer the contestants who say 'please' and 'thank you'! smile

Bit of useless info: all three UC presenters studied English at Cambridge.

I don’t know how tall Amol Rajan is in real life but in the quiz master’s chair he seemed really small after Paxo’s towering presence.

Completely unimportant I know but I couldn’t help thinking they should have wound his chair up a bit. 😂

Evidently University Challenge has been slated. The Great British Public’s dislike of change or was it really bad? I thought it lacked ‘sparkle’ but I’ll give it a few weeks.

Not watched it yet, so haven’t read your posts, in case of spoilers, we’ll watch tonight.

Love Monday quiz night on BBC 2.. As for Amol Rajan I though he was very good, I perfer him to Paxman who I thought always came across too smug and superior.

Ever since Amol Rajan began as a presenter on Today on Radio 4, his diction has annoyed me. How could anyone who gabbles as he does, get a job on a flagship news programme? I missed the quizzes last night because I was at - guess what! - a quiz evening.

We feel good if we get any in the second round where you have to guess the 4th box. The last round is my favourite, also a favourite activity for children if we have a few minutes at the end of the day. I put a few words up on the screen e.g. ppl, grps, or, chrry, wtrmln, drgn and they guess them. Extra point for guessing the category early on.

Yay - Quizzy Mondays are back! Tho' I thought these things came back after the summer break to herald autumn and the closing in of the evenings?

I thought the presenter was reasonable and quite self-effacing, but he did, I thought, tend to gabble somewhat towards the end as the tension was mounting!

That was my fear - that he would gabble.
It was a speeded up version of University Challenge.
But he was kinder than Paxo - saying well done to the contestants.
Then again - he said Haitch instead of Aitch 😲

On the other hand I got quite a few correct answers on OC
I thought it was more difficult than usual, I didn't answer much tonight, until the end.

Mmm not sure about Amol but he should settle down. .I still haven't got used to Clive Miry not sure how to spell that, on Mastermind. Perhaps I don't like my Comfort TV programmes to change. UC just felt a bit lightweight tonight

I found Amol a bit difficult to understand at times as he rushed his questions. Not that I would've known the answers! Pacman spoke much more clearly.

On the other hand I got quite a few correct answers on OC.

Sorry. Amol Rajan

I heard Amol Raman on Radio 2 today doing Tracks of my Years. Gabbling doesn’t come close. He barely came up for air!

I don’t think he’s someone I can take to.

Great to see Only Connect back again.

I guess I’ll get used to the new presenter on University Challenge, but at the moment the program lacks sparkle.
