The second series of this drama by Irvine Welsh is now on ITVX. It is as good as the first series, possibly better, and Dougray Scott’s portrayal of the complex character DI Ray Lennox is wonderful. It is set in Edinburgh and the accents make it hard to follow in places so I needed sub titles. Not for those who dislike violence and gritty subject matter but there are occasional touches of humour and it is definitely a cut above most dramas.

I missed the first series of this, am now binge watching it on itvX, prior to watching series two. I’ve enjoyed most of Irvine Welsh’s writing over the years, especially his use of very dark humour. I’m really enjoying it, lots of well kent faces in it. It’s good to hear authentic Scottish voices. It’s set in Edinburgh, but I’m sure I’ve also recognised Glasgow backgrounds.

I loved series two, Dougray Scott gives an amazing performance, sometimes a second series is disappointing but not in this case. Just for your information the novel Crime is a follow up to Series 1, I thought it was just the book on which the first series was based but it is about the events that followed his experience in Series one. I have ordered it on Kindle, I find Irvine Welsh’s writing just up my street so I am hoping I will like it.

Cracking drama. I felt that Welsh is angry about what is happening to our nation, shown by the interview speech from DI Lennox.

Much of the commentary in the voice of Lennox is Welsh’s social commentary on a broken society. There is also some humour to lighten things eg the edict from above to replace the term murder with homicide. I do hope there will be another series, it’s the best thing I’ve watched this year.

I thought the star of the show was Ken Stott. His facial expressions were brilliant. (Also his character's descriptions of Boris Johnson and David Cameron.)

Yes Ken Stott was very good and in series one John Simm was amazing.

Ken Stott will always be Rebus to me he was great in the part. We saw an old film of " An Inspecter Calls " by J. B. Priestly and he did a great job of playing the father.
Does anyone pay to remove the adds I am tempted ?

Floradora9 do you mean in the ITVX app? For me the app is terrible it keeps stopping and I have to go off it and then start again. I did wonder if paying for the ad free version would improve things but I’m not confident it would. I am looking for a free trial offer to find out.

We pay to remove the ads but it still stops and starts. I do think it is slowly improving though, it was really bad when it first started.
