No Offence was fab

I discovered Brassic last week. It is very funny and a little different.
Also London Kills is very good.
Trying to avoid the Jimmy Savile/ Peter Sutcliffe dramas.

It was on Channel 4, which might not have helped. I don't know about 'set in the North'. I can't say it bothers me if something is set in the North, South, East or West - if I can understand the accent I am happy to watch, so that makes no sense to me, but I have heard of a few series on TV and Radio that have been shelved for that reason.

I never heard of this the first time round either! The "set in the North" excuse isn't really valid, lots of other shows have been, and got good viewing figures.

Going back a bit, Likely Lads and Summer Wine (that one a mere 37 series?!!) were pretty northern, as were 'Bread' and 'Cold Feet'?! What else, er, Happy Valley, Scott & Bailey, Last Tango in Halifax, pretty 'northern', and Downton Abbey was set in the north, albeit generally filmed further south, and got stellar viewing figures!

There are lots of reasons for shows getting cancelled, not just viewing figures, but this show averaged about 2.5 million. That may suggest that though commenters on here liked it, the broad appeal wasn't there? Van der Valk in its revamped guise (2020 to 2023 so far) was getting over 7 million viewers for example.

I didn't see it first time round but have caught up with all the episodes now. It was so good, such a shame they're not making any more series.

Brilliant programme. I must watch again.

I'll add it to my viewing list. I'm really loving another Police series Blue Heelers set in 1990s Australia. That's on Freevee.

I loved this when it came out. The plots are good, and the script is witty, dramatic and sometimes hilarious. Joanna Scanlon plays her part really well. One series in particular was excellent, but I won't give any spoilers - I think it should have won lots of awards though.

I watched this first time round, it was great stuff, well written and acted. Shame there aren't any more to watch
