Enjoyed it but so many characters! Wasn't sure who the body on the ground was at the very end. But think Tosh and Ashley J will be a good pairing.

I do wish they'd give Sandy a bigger part, I love his accent, it's a real Shetland accent or dialect.

I like Tosh and really love Sandy's accent.. I could listen to him a lot more..

It's growing on me but agree that new boss is very unprofessional. Will still be a fan of it I think. I did love perez but he did need a new coat! grin

As I’ve never read the books I enjoyed the previous series, as we’re enjoying this one, good storyline, interesting characters and great scenery.

Same here. I do have the sub titles on though.

And of course this series as some of the others are not from the ‘Shetland’ books, just ‘inspired’ by them.

My husband watches it. I can’t stand the accents (sorry!) or the miserable tone so I amuse myself with something else.

Auntieflo Thu 09-Nov-23 19:20:27

Me to MiniMoon.
I know Tosh's husband was a house - husband, and looked after their baby, but no mention of them as you say.

BlueBelle Thu 09-Nov-23 16:59:47

Well I don’t watch Eastenders so I haven’t seen him in that he just seemed very familiar

Its all to do with Presence. I have seen Dougie Henshall on stage at Stratford RSC . He is a fine classical actor. He can hold you with a look or a word. His replacement is not bad; just not good enough. Scotland has many fine actors and I don't understand this casting or the "Cagney and Lacey" vibe.

Calendargirl Thu 09-Nov-23 16:48:41

But Jimmy was very dark and Spanish-looking, nothing like our Dougie.

If I were in charge of casting any tv or film, I would want actors/actresses who looked like they were described in the book.

Can't take to the new sour-faced boss. They should have axed it with Henshall; it was his show imo.

She is very unprofessional. I hope she goes back to the Met or wherever she came from.

I know some posters thought Dougie Henshall wasn't right to play Jimmy Pérez who apparently had Spanish ancestry but I really liked him in the part. Anyway, there must have been a lot of added genes since his ancestor landed 400 years ago.

I've been wondering where Tosh's partner and baby are. We are two episodes in and we haven't had a glimpse of them.

Visgir1 Thu 09-Nov-23 14:15:03

Thought it was good, nice to see a femail double act.

I was never that keen on Henshaw.
I know in the part he played a man had a miserable back story but IMO he was just so miserable.
However I always enjoy the program.

I like all the characters except for Ashley Jensen I don’t think she is convincing in this series.
I miss Dougie ☹️

I’m new to Shetland . I’m not sure how I missed all the previous series in recent years but I’m glad I’ve started watching now.

It was funny to see the actress who was forced to harbour the 2 gunmen in her croft. She was in a CBeebies series Katie Morag and I loved watching it with my grandchildren about 10 years ago. It was filmed on the Isle of Lewis and Katie Morag spent a lot of time on adventures with her “Granny Island” who was a feisty woman who lived alone on a remote croft . It looks like they’ve even used the same wardrobe for her character in Shetland. I found myself saying last night “please don’t shoot Granny Island ! I’ve attached a pic from Katie Morag series.

Happy it’s not only me who is confused about the characters.

merlotgran Wed 08-Nov-23 23:42:49

A lot of the men look similar, wear similar clothes, I'm getting confused

I’m glad I’m not the only one but I am enjoying it.

Gin Wed 08-Nov-23 23:40:37

I hope they do not introduce any more characters, there are far too many to remember. I cannot distinguish the goodies from the badies. The weird family seem to increase in number with each episode.

Hellogirl1 Wed 08-Nov-23 23:25:43

He also played a policeman in a serial a few years back, can`t remember the title.

Well I enjoyed it ( although I did fall asleep in the last ten minutes so will have to go over the last bit on my ipad) I wasn’t bored just tired
Where have I seen the black guy before ?

Well apparently he was a baddie in East Enders too.
I've never watched it!

Callistemon21 Wed 08-Nov-23 22:58:05

Where have I seen the black guy before ?

I don't know but I don't think he played a baddie, he seems too nice to be a ruthless murderer!

Callistemon21 Wed 08-Nov-23 22:56:47

I fell asleep during The Repair Shop so don't know if they fitted Teddy back together with nuts and bolts or used a more child-friendly method.
Not quite as gruesome as Shetland but nearly!!

A lot of the men look similar, wear similar clothes, I'm getting confused.
