The Bobby storyline is just ridiculous. Simon arrived home to find a total stranger slobbing out on the sofa with his belongings all over the place. He didn’t look in the least surprised and said no problem he can have my bed.

maddyone Fri 29-Dec-23 23:25:30

I already loathe Bobby. I suppose we’re supposed to find him objectionable, but that hardly draws anyone to a programme does it? We must find some common humanity in the characters and I don’t in Bobby.

I was hoping Moses would announce he was happily married with three children.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 30-Dec-23 08:55:14

I wonder if Moses has been introduced to open up a storyline about asylum seekers? Is he from Nigeria? If he is gay, I think that's a crime in Nigeria.

Aveline Sat 30-Dec-23 09:37:44

Oh gawd. Is Corrie going to go all woke with storylines on disability and refugees?

Calendargirl Sat 30-Dec-23 09:55:13

Aveline

Probably. The writers just seem to jump on every ‘issue’ they can to highlight how current their thinking is.

Comes across as pretty turgid for us, the viewers.

Meant to comment on the Christmas Day episode, when yet again, Paul and Billy were disturbed while having sex, though thankfully we were spared the gritty details. That storyline has been done to death.

What on earth was Archbishop Billy doing, cavorting about the flat half naked apart from his Santa hat? Surely he should have been out and about taking the odd church service?

It was Christmas Day after all.

maddyone Sat 30-Dec-23 09:56:34

Moses seems nice, whether it’s woke or not, but I’m puzzled as to how anyone could know he’s gay by taking one look at him. As for Bobby, he is not going to add to my enjoyment of the street. I hope he’s gone when I get back from visiting my daughter in New Zealand. I don’t really think anyone could be quite so objectionable and selfish.

maddyone Sat 30-Dec-23 10:00:39

Calendargirl I also wondered why Billy wasn’t at church on Christmas morning. He’s been reinstated so that’s where he should have been. I wish the writers would give us some realistic storylines instead of the woke diet they are feeding to us nowadays. Don’t they know that the least woke places in Britain are little back streets?

Let’s hope Ed goes to join Aggie soon.

vegansrock

Let’s hope Ed goes to join Aggie soon.

And Ed and Aggie go off to the Caribbean with ghastly Grandad to assist him in running his ailing business, whatever that is. He doesn’t seem to have room to talk, as he sounds a complete failure.

Ronnie, Michael, Glory and Dee Dee can stay, as they aren’t too bad.

I think Aggie will dump Ed when she finds out though.

Grannynannywanny Sat 30-Dec-23 11:00:23

I noticed there was a mention of Glory’s mum Grace and her flat. I’d forgotten they bribed her to stay away. History now repeating itself with Stu bribing Eliza’s dad to stay away.

I was hoping Moses would announce he was happily married with three children.

Now that would have been a turn up for the books!

vegansrock Sat 30-Dec-23 14:52:04

Has Moses given any indication that he is gay?

BlueBelle Sat 30-Dec-23 15:04:16

No veganrock I don’t think so
Grandad is awful I only really like DeeDee and Ronnie in that family

Maggiemaybe Sat 30-Dec-23 15:25:26

Talking of Ronnie, I’m a bit puzzled by the insider trading hoo-hah. Didn’t he hear about the Newton & Ridley buy-out because the brewery head honchos were discussing it in the bistro (as you do) and Debbie overheard and told him? How was Ronnie an insider? Wouldn’t he have had to be a director or something of the brewery? Wasn’t he just lucky (until Ed got his hands on the cash, that is)?

Does this mean that when I become a millionaire by acting on information I overhear while eavesdropping on captains of industry in my local, I’ll end up serving time? I think I need to know.

Corrie is on. Tonight ( Sunday) at 7.30. Probably the NYE in the Rover's episode…..

Well, the Rovers has been shut for a while.

Both Jenny and Daisy need to be cleaning and polishing their new premises before opening up again methinks, as it will be a bit grubby and dusty.

Instead of scoffing sweets in the Kabin.

CoolCoco Sun 31-Dec-23 08:09:39

Oops sorry it’s on tonight at 8pm and again tomorrow. Apparently Damon is back which should liven it up a bit.

Grannynannywanny Sun 31-Dec-23 08:46:25

Ooh I’d forgotten all about dinky Damon. I wonder if Sarah will fall for his charms again. Adam won’t be happy to have him around. They might kick off the new year party with a punch up in the Rovers.

Aveline Sun 31-Dec-23 08:58:48

How will they get a licence in time as well as stock up all the booze? Oh well. It's soapland after all.

Charleygirl5 Sun 31-Dec-23 14:39:49

The Rovers will magically clean itself, it will not need a helping hand and I doubt if the two girls can afford to employ a cleaning company.

If Billy is not careful he will have amassed the same length of time between church visits as me and that was when I was 17! Asmittedly being a lapsed Catholic (thanks to the nuns) I was not running the service.

Thanks, I had forgotten about tonight's episode.

ight's episode

I did like Gemma in the wig and glasses 🥳

CoolCoco Mon 01-Jan-24 06:53:48

Bethany and Daniel didn’t take long in getting it on did they?

BlueBelle Mon 01-Jan-24 07:14:29

I had missed a couple of episodes and only saw threequarters of last nights…. was that Bethany surely a different actress ?
After I thought Adams hair had calmed down, last night I realise it was a temporary situation and it’s now started flying off in a completely different direction

Calendargirl Mon 01-Jan-24 07:38:00

No, the same Bethany, just older and wiser!

Loved the way everyone rallied round and got the Rovers sparkling, obviously no one had much else to do on New Year’s Eve. And the charity shop open and able to supply ghastly last minute costumes.

And no doubt the new nephew will turn out to be an ace salesman for Underworld.
