I thought Bobby's line tonight was brilliant when Lauren snapped at him in cafe and he said "Service with a snarl." 😂🤣😅

Talking of Lauren, I'm fed up of the storyline dragging on and on and on of whatever forces the deadpan look to emerge on her face.

Right now we cone to Gail Platt, McIntyre, Tilsley or whatever the heck she's called, she does my flippin nut in, I feel the hairs standing up on the back of my neck that I never knew existed ... ( 🤣😅😆)

Yes, I love Corrie ..

Doodledog Mon 19-Feb-24 10:00:49

Gail gets more irritating every episode. She's the mother from Hell (and always was), and her simpering, eyelash fluttering and intense gaze would induce murderous thoughts in the Dalai Lama.

Is Gail now wearing a wig? I know she's always had amazingly thick hair, but it now looks different.

It was heartbreaking, wasn’t it?

It really was...
I could cheerfully slap Mrs Crawshaw!
(reminder to self - it's only a story) grin

Liam and Maria’s acting so good, really felt they were distraught mum and son.

Primrose53 Fri 16-Feb-24 20:42:52

The lad who plays Liam should get an award. Brilliant acting tonight. 👏👏

Calendargirl Fri 16-Feb-24 20:30:52

Why does Maria still call herself Connor?

Did she and Gary actually get married?

( I realise of course that many women keep their own names)

Doodledog Fri 16-Feb-24 15:20:22

Martin always irritated me with his mouth noises. For a young man he sounded like an old grouch most of the time - pfft, chhh, humph, ossshh.

Kandinsky Fri 16-Feb-24 09:46:30

Yes I agree. They do seem to jump on every issue going, which leaves viewers ( well, me ) a bit bewildered trying to keep up with it all.
Watching Coronation Street used to be like drinking a nice cup of tea, now it’s like drinking a triple whiskey followed by jäger bombs.
Too much.

Calendargirl Fri 16-Feb-24 09:04:57

That’s all very accurate BlueBelle.

The only trouble is they seem to leap on any current issues/crisis and bombard them all at once.

But I agree, they have raised some compelling storylines in the past few years, Sinead’s death, Aidan’s suicide, gay relationships and marriage, domestic abuse and control issues…..

That’s when we have seen some great acting performances, alongside others not so good.

BlueBelle Fri 16-Feb-24 08:16:14

I don’t think it’s lost its way at all I think that might be sour grapes on his part It s definitely changed and not always for the better but it mirrors real life and that has changed beyond recognition and I think most believe it’s got much worse
Twenty + years ago you wouldn’t have had scenes or conversations about rape or party doping you wouldn’t have had two men talking of getting in the bath together or getting married
We probably wouldn’t have seen young people getting bullied
or a character getting killed because his girlfriend was a goth or the girlfriend changing her mind and drifting from straight to gay ( or should I say queer)
I think Corrie is sometimes a pain but I do think it brings up some good subjects to be watched and discussed and recognised
It has had to change and become more than a joke a caricature of life Life has become much more grim in the last 15 plus years and particularly the last 5

Grannynannywanny Fri 16-Feb-24 07:54:47

I read an interview recently by Sean Wilson who played Martin Platt. He said he wouldn’t rule out a return to Corrie if invited. However, he was critical of the programme in the same interview and said Corrie has lost its way in recent years.

He went on to be a chef and award winning cheese maker after leaving Corrie.

Martin Platt- a blast from the past.

Those were the days.

^Seems like Mrs Crawshaw (the Head) is the only teacher at the school^

A common happening in Corrie.

Doctor Gaddas, the only GP, Aggie was the only nurse at Weathy General, (no wonder she left, must have been worn out) and of course Craigy the main port of call at the police station for robberies, assaults, murders, car crashes……

Remember when Martin Platt qualified as a nurse many years ago? He ran the whole hospital single handedly 🤣🤣

If anybody from the Street was ill or injured Martin was always on duty and they all seemed to get a room to themselves, not on a ward.

Kandinsky Thu 15-Feb-24 17:57:07

The bullying storyline is far too uncomfortable - not least because the poor boy looks just like my son at that age.

Not looking good for Nick & Leanne is it.
& bored with the hunky footballer story line already.

Well, he took the puppet in to use the tools in the woodwork room (or CDT as it’s probably called now).

Never any staff around to catch them out when they are carrying out their bullying of course.

Do none of the teachers think Mason is a troublemaker? I can’t believe he has got to Year11 or whatever without causing aggro before now.

No student would be unsupervised in a CDT room. This story is so far removed from how bullying would be treated in a secondary school. Where is the pastoral team? The head certainly wouldn’t just wash their hands of the situation and send parents home.
The writers clearly haven’t been in a school recently, I’m beginning to wonder if they ever have.

Yes, and given that the Head has been informed of the problem, whether or not Maria and Gary have been able to prove it, she should be on the lookout for any problem. They do seem to be unsupervised a lot.

The Liam story is so upsetting, and well played too. But I really don't think he'd have taken that puppet into school.

Liam is shaping up to be a very good actor. This is the best storyline he has had in Corrie. I hope it doesn't end up in him taking his own life although in our real world it is increasing amongst bullied youngsters. I think Corrie has handled this really well. I hope the gruesome twosome, making Liam's life a living hell, will get their comeuppance very soon.

Who is Lauren’s ex?

Hope it’s not Damon.

We should see when she opens the door!! 😉
