Calendargirl I also wondered why Billy wasn’t at church on Christmas morning. He’s been reinstated so that’s where he should have been. I wish the writers would give us some realistic storylines instead of the woke diet they are feeding to us nowadays. Don’t they know that the least woke places in Britain are little back streets?

maddyone Sat 30-Dec-23 09:56:34

Moses seems nice, whether it’s woke or not, but I’m puzzled as to how anyone could know he’s gay by taking one look at him. As for Bobby, he is not going to add to my enjoyment of the street. I hope he’s gone when I get back from visiting my daughter in New Zealand. I don’t really think anyone could be quite so objectionable and selfish.

Aveline

Oh gawd. Is Corrie going to go all woke with storylines on disability and refugees?

Probably. The writers just seem to jump on every ‘issue’ they can to highlight how current their thinking is.

Comes across as pretty turgid for us, the viewers.

Meant to comment on the Christmas Day episode, when yet again, Paul and Billy were disturbed while having sex, though thankfully we were spared the gritty details. That storyline has been done to death.

What on earth was Archbishop Billy doing, cavorting about the flat half naked apart from his Santa hat? Surely he should have been out and about taking the odd church service?

It was Christmas Day after all.

I wonder if Moses has been introduced to open up a storyline about asylum seekers? Is he from Nigeria? If he is gay, I think that's a crime in Nigeria.

Calendargirl Sat 30-Dec-23 08:04:33

I was hoping Moses would announce he was happily married with three children.

I already loathe Bobby. I suppose we’re supposed to find him objectionable, but that hardly draws anyone to a programme does it? We must find some common humanity in the characters and I don’t in Bobby.

Grannynannywanny Fri 29-Dec-23 22:28:41

The Bobby storyline is just ridiculous. Simon arrived home to find a total stranger slobbing out on the sofa with his belongings all over the place. He didn’t look in the least surprised and said no problem he can have my bed.

NotTooOld Fri 29-Dec-23 22:01:58

How did Todd know that Paul's new Personal Assistant was gay? He seemed to know just as soon as he spotted him on the other side of the road. Does he have a special gaydar or something? I think I must be missing something here.

NotTooOld Fri 29-Dec-23 21:58:50

Bobby is supposedly the son of Carla's brother who went to prison for killing Tina. I thought someone else killed her but I must have got that wrong. And he's awful - Bobby, I mean - as Charleygirl has said. It's also ridiculous that he appears just as Peter has disappeared. I'm sorry Peter has gone. He was a good actor, unlike many of the rest of the cast.

BlueBelle Fri 29-Dec-23 21:33:59

Missed a bit as been away
Couldn’t work out who Bobby was ? Does Carla have a sister then ?
Never did understand why Simon was played by a mixed race lad

Charleygirl5 Fri 29-Dec-23 21:30:58

I hope Bobby moves on soon- I think he is dire.

I read today that Beth is moving on but I do not know how she will be edited out.

Doodledog Fri 29-Dec-23 21:19:00

Bobby is shaping up to be a real pain. Carla wouldn't have taken him in in real life.

Do we trust DD's confidante? I'm not sure she should have told him about the insider dealing, particularly as she changed her mind about going to the police.

Aveline Fri 29-Dec-23 21:09:54

Entirely agree. I can't see this Bobby growing on us either.
Does anyone remember Graham? He was a very pleasantly daft window cleaner lad. I always liked him. Funny but in a far more subtle way than Bobby.

vegansrock Fri 29-Dec-23 20:39:09

Yes Bobby not funny, I prefer the dry one liners of Evelyn any day.

Calendargirl Fri 29-Dec-23 20:32:09

Well, I feel we, the viewers, have drawn the short straw with Peter departing and being ‘replaced’ by this long-lost, unheard of nephew Bobby turning up, moving in with Carla, obviously yet another so called ‘comic’ character, but in reality just a load of nonsensical storyline.

Just unbelievable.

vegansrock Fri 29-Dec-23 20:12:29

Anyone else think the way Corrie are portraying disabled characters ( think Alex in the cafe and now the new Carla’s nephew) as wacky fun people a bit embarassing?

Calendargirl Wed 27-Dec-23 19:43:38

Was it the same Jack eating Christmas dinner in the bistro? Only caught a glimpse, but thought he looked different.

maddyone Wed 27-Dec-23 17:54:15

And the new Ruby is much better than the old Ruby.

maddyone Wed 27-Dec-23 17:53:44

I think Lily Platt is a pretty poor actress too, but Nick’s son, Sam is a very good actor. Also the granddaughter of Stu is pretty good too, Eliza.

Doodledog Wed 27-Dec-23 13:14:27

Oh yes. So bad I always forget about him grin

Aveline Wed 27-Dec-23 12:37:03

Jack is pretty bad too?

Doodledog Wed 27-Dec-23 12:18:22

I liked Peter, but can see why the actor wanted to leave, as his storylines have ben repetitive and a bit boring lately. He's good looking and can act, so should get more work if that's what he wants. After so long in a popular soap he's probably well able to retire and be comfortable, and I wouldn't blame him if he did that.

I agree that Simon has been a non-character. He was a cute child (although miscast) but as he got older he's lost his cuteness and not replaced it with acting ability. Chesney was also impossibly cute, but is much less so now, although he can act. David is a very good actor (and the same applies re looks) and Amy is good too, although has kept her prettiness as she's got older. On the whole, the casting team are good at finding talented children who can stay the course, so getting it wrong with Simon isn't a bad hit rate, really.

Charleygirl5 Wed 27-Dec-23 09:01:55

Unfortunately we have to put up with Simon until next summer. Simon is the one who wants to move on, he will have a hard time gaining employment.

Aveline Wed 27-Dec-23 08:25:31

I'm sorry Peter's going but it's good riddance to Simon. He never looked anything like his parents and can't act.
