A thousand posts! How time flies grin

Post your moans, praise and observations about life on the cobbles on this shiny new thread.

to an 80 odd year old hairdresser full of energy

But unfortunately with the shakes when she wields a pair of scissors or clippers!

The Sweeny Todd of Coronation Street!

Grannynannywanny Thu 16-Nov-23 10:58:50

That might be a good storyline Calendargirl if her scissors slipped at an opportune moment and relieved us of an annoying character. It’s a few weeks since they’ve had a murder 😆

Doodledog Thu 16-Nov-23 11:26:13

Are Audrey's shakes because of alcohol, or is she suffering from something like Parkinsons?

She's always been a bit of a boozer, and alcoholism in older people is an issue. She also has episodes of forgetfulness that could be connected, so it's possible. Whatever 'it' is has been going on for years, so I wish they'd get on with the story.

I agree that the march was ridiculous. Amy's actions were way out of character, and I'm not sure what to make of the police officer who interviewed her. Is this the beginning of a new storyline? Are they going to try to bring down Aaron?

Grannynannywanny Thu 16-Nov-23 11:48:04

Amy’s storyline seems to have taken a strange turn. What was going on with her solo arrival at the night club and the bouncer commenting on how she’s a regular visitor? Why is she there without Summer or any other friends? It made me think following on from her earlier erratic behaviour in the street if she’s embarking on some kind of man hating mission. Is deliberately going to have an encounter with a boy in the night club and accost them? Or have I just got a vivid imagination??

Clawdy Fri 17-Nov-23 22:20:30

Some good acting from Amy and Aadi tonight. Quite powerful scenes.

Summerfly Fri 17-Nov-23 23:15:02

Yes Clawdy I agree. Amy’s acting skills have improved with age, and who couldn’t love Aadi.

Calendargirl Sat 18-Nov-23 07:07:49

But the whole Amy story has been done to death. Let’s hope this is the beginning of the end of it.

Very convenient that it was DI Blondie who was called out to the hospital. She has taken over from Craigy as the ubiquitous police officer.

And the twin onesie wearing by Steve and Tracy became a bit trite.

Wish Amy would just tell them how she feels.

And no, we don’t need another thieving, bullying, nasty story line involving the youngsters.

As for ghastly Cassie sticking her nose in with Hope, the caring granny who has only been in their lives a couple of months…,

sodapop Sat 18-Nov-23 07:20:59

Come on then Calendargirl give us some ideas for potential Corrie storylines.
When is Fizz coming back, where is Abbie's baby, where is Aggie? and so it goes on

Doodledog Sat 18-Nov-23 07:45:22

I think that showing that women don’t just get over rape is more responsible than just dropping the story, but this is over the top.

The onesies were probably part of the charity thing that seems to be going on. Was it Children In Need? I saw a few people in onesies yesterday, and children went to school in pyjamas.

Cassie of all people going on about vapes was a bit much. And shouting at Shaun was pointless when it was Dylan who was supposedly at fault.

Poor Aadi. He doesn’t have much luck with the women in his life, does he?

BlueBelle Sat 18-Nov-23 07:59:47

I agree totally Doodlebug it’s good to show that rape or any type of abuse is not something you can just sweep away but it’s going on and on and getting more unrealistic each time I find the Amy storyline in the club totally OTT and unrealistic
Aadi is a bit of a sweetheart I hope they end up together

Beechnut Sat 18-Nov-23 08:07:54

Aadi is a bit of a sweetheart I hope they end up together^

And be happy but I suppose that’s too much to ask!

Doodledog Sat 18-Nov-23 08:27:08

The only happy couples I can think of over the years have been Roy and Hayley, Derek and Mavis and Beth and Kirkie. Maybe Chesney and Gemma count too, but it's not a great average considering the number of people.

Aveline Sat 18-Nov-23 08:46:11

Wonder who will buy the Rovers? Jenny with Rita's backing? Bit boring. Maybe someone new?

maddyone Sat 18-Nov-23 09:36:20

But where is Beth? She’s another one who’s not there. Then there’s Aggie, Fizz (I think she’s having a baby in real life) Abbie’s baby, and two of the quads because we only ever see two of them.

Beechnut Sat 18-Nov-23 10:00:41

At long last Glory put in an appearance this week.

BlueBelle Sat 18-Nov-23 10:07:39

Beth and Kirkie parted company for a while while she had a ‘sort of’ fling with an old school friend Doodledog

Calendargirl Sat 18-Nov-23 12:06:18

Ok sodapop, will throw out a few potential storylines.

1) Alina to return, plus mini Ty, who must be at nursery by now. She could come back just before Fiz’s return, leaving Tyrone in a quandary, as Alina will still be quite alluring. She could get a job at Audrey’s doing nails.

2) Someone, (not sure who) needs to set up a proper child minding/ playgroup/ nursery school. ( Not Gemma!)There must be so many potential customers, the quads, Glory, mini Ty, Bertie, Alfie …..

3) Damon must return! Have read that Bethany Platt is due to come back to Corrie, am sure if she does, she will catch Damon’s roving eye and cause jealousy with mum Sarah. He will probably share himself out between them both.

4) Seeing as the Kabin is not doing very well, perhaps Brian can sell it and buy the Rovers. He and Jenny could run it together, on a strictly business footing.

Is that enough ideas to be going on with?

Doodledog Sat 18-Nov-23 12:13:12

BlueBelle

Beth and Kirkie parted company for a while while she had a ‘sort of’ fling with an old school friend Doodledog

Yes, but they seem happy enough now. They don’t spoil two houses, as my mother would say grin.

I hope I’m wrong, but I have a horrible feeling that Cassie will take over the Rovers. Claire Sweeney is quite a big name actress, and would probably have negotiated a starring role when she’s bedded in.

Calendargirl Sat 18-Nov-23 12:17:22

Where would Cassie get the money to buy the Rovers?

Am sure her made-up job at the garage doesn’t pay enough to contribute to household bills at Tyrone’s, let alone anything else.

And she’d never get a mortgage or anything.

Doodledog Sat 18-Nov-23 12:19:30

No, but she could be employed to manage it?

Grannynannywanny Sat 18-Nov-23 13:33:24

Before Cassie takes on any high powered jobs I hope she gets her laundry up to date. Her jacket doesn’t look like it’s been washed since she was sleeping on park benches.

sodapop Sat 18-Nov-23 13:42:55

That all sounds good Calendargirl, look forward to Damon returning. I think Bethany will renew her relationship with Daniel
Maybe Roy & Evelyn will finally get it together as well.
Think I see Brian & Mary together and Jenny back in the Rovers.
The child care group could be interesting maybe Tracy from Emmerdale could do that. I do have a life outside the soaps honestly.

Doodledog Sat 18-Nov-23 15:11:13

It would be good if instead of the usual festive trauma we could have a happy Christmas episode with couples getting together instead of falling apart.

Charleygirl5 Sat 18-Nov-23 15:48:40

I agree Doodledog but I am certain Paul will be saying goodbye permanently then.

As for Cassie, I feel apart from her over-white teeth, her body could also do with a long soak. I hope she is not going to be a long term resident.

NotTooOld Sat 18-Nov-23 17:50:31

The Cassie character is awful. Please don't let her take over the Rovers!

BEWARE! POSSIBLE SPOILERS

I have read that Alina is coming back, also Bethany and Damon. Perhaps Damon will get the Rovers although I have also read that Jenny gets it back. I saw a picture of the Rover's door with her name above it somewhere. According to what someone said last night it is to be turned into apartments and Maria says there is nothing she can do about it.

Aadi is lovely, isn't he? He deserves some good luck - not Amy as a girlfriend. I think he'd fit better with Summer or even the goth girl in the caff, what's she called? She has a funny way of speaking, too - must have caught that from Dev.
