Andre Rieu Christmas 2023

Have you looked on his official website? I’d have thought it would be on there. I don’t think it’s the Christmas one but he does have a DVD released soon.

They are a great spectacle and very Christmassy but I find Rieu just a bit creepy which puts me off watching.

I agree he is creepy watch how he is with the women .

I went right off him after seeing him in concert in Glasgow,
He wasn't very nice and quite patronising to some patrons, who had to leave early to catch the last train home.
I felt he was going through the motions and would have preferred to be somewhere else.
I stopped following him after that.

I am so glad I am not alone in disliking this man and his saccharine orchestra of pastel meringues.
TBH he makes my flesh creep, as MD says, so patronising - he also comes across as smug lapping up the hero worship of the worst of white, middle class, oompah -band audiences clapping along with him.

How strange. I've always thought that and now I find im not alone. My friend loves him but definitely I don't.

André Rieu certainly discovered the right recipe to create a large following worldwide. I'm starting to find all the concerts very samey samey now, so a Christmas dvd from any year, (and there are lots), would probably do the job. I've heard the same chit-chat several times over, and the audience is often used as the stooges for his jokes.

I also now find him very smug..and was astonished to see how expensive the seats were for his enormous live concerts. He really appeals to people's sentimentality

I have never understood his appeal.

He's a Dutch violinist with his own orchestra. They put on shows, nowhere up there with the Betliner Philomoniker or the Vienna Philomoniker.

I'm all for making classical music more popular, but I certainly think Andre himself seems slimy and I certainly could never wear one of those pastel frilly frocks!

Nevertheless, Mazgg, lots of people do like him, so I hope you manage to find out about the DVD.

To digress I have always had the same feelings about Cliff Richard, am I odd?

No, you're not. A lot of people don't seem to like Cliff. I'm not one of them. I like him and feel sorry for him these days.
We all have various likes and dislikes.
