Do you have an ‘old lady crush'?

Or an ‘old gentleman crush’, if you are not an old lady?
I have been watching The Good Doctor, about a surgeon with autism and savant syndrome. You must suspend belief a great deal, but I have developed the said ‘old lady crush’ on Freddie Highmore, who plays Shaun, after seeing him interviewed on You Tube.
My friend loves Harry Styles, and my daughter-in-law says her crush is Timothee Chalamet ( whoever he is)

I don’t count my Paul McCartney or Sam Neill crushes, as they are nearer in age.

Another vote for Viggo but only as Aragorn, I think it's the shaggy dark hair and beard because he's not got the same attraction clean shaven.
Outlander's Sam Heughan also rocks my boat. Here's the thing, in my head I'm still 20 something even if my 66 year old body tells me otherwise wink

My crush is Rob Rinder, the barrister and TV person. I admire his brain and his warmth towards his family, and have enjoyed learning more about him through the TV documentaries he's done - the most recent being the Princes in the Tower.

Yes, I know he's gay but I don't care smile

I agree. I met him last month in Glasgow, and he was delightful ( and much smaller than I expected!) I was going to identify as a young gay man because of him, Graham Norton, and Paul O’ Grady!

That's interesting to know.
I thought he was delightful when he was on Strictly a few years ago.
Every woman should have a gay male friend, I reckon, and I want Rob Rinder to be mine. Unfortunately he doesn't know that yet!

I know it's awful but I do like Jeremy Clarkson. He's so funny. His TV persona is deliberately naughty. I've always liked a bad boy. Meanwhile, Richard Hammond is very handsome (but tiny)

Dougray Scott and Jason Isaacs are my ‘old lady crushes’.

Patrick Grant from the “Sewing Bee”. Yes, I know that he’s not in the first flush of youth but I’m VERY old!

I’m going to opt for Regé-Jean Page. He was in first series of Bridgerton. Gave up after that as he was the only reason I watched it. Sadly I have had to come to the conclusion there is no hope for Rufus Sewell and me now.

I always fancied Omar Sharif - those eyes! - but as he's lost to us, I'll settle for George Clooney.

Mine too, MerylStreep. We could form a fan club for him. I've watched the series twice but could happily watch it all through again. 🤗

James, one of the male models in the JoeBrown catalogue

Jaxjacky Fri 08-Dec-23 16:10:38

David Gandy pretty please.

Primrose53 Fri 08-Dec-23 17:00:29

Robbie Williams and a few others whose names I can’t remember.

Ailidh Fri 08-Dec-23 18:16:39

Rufus Sewell but only as Lord Melbourne.

The big chap on the pottery throw down. Google. Keith Brymer Jones.

Marydoll where do you find Turkish dramas to watch? My favourite is the scruffy detective in Spiral, sorry I am hopeless with names. He turned up recently in another BBC4 Sat foreign drama series but was not as heart-stopping!

I’ve loved him for years, and, he’s sooooo nice.

You Tube for Turkish dramas with subtitles.
I watch Spiral too and the one with Inspector Schiovone.
DH is great at finding French and Italian dramas.

Yes, I did, MS, .It was clear that the whole cast were very close and so sad that the series was ending. It was one of my all time favourites.

RosiesMaw Fri 08-Dec-23 19:47:09

@ Granyactivist TBH it is more than a little cheesey
I imagine we all love our partners - in many cases still do with all our hearts even years after we have bid them that sad farewell- but this thread is lighthearted, meant as a bit of a joke and not to be taken too literally confusedconfusedconfused

Tenko agree.

I remember my mother when in her 80s had a soft spot for young men like David Mitchell and Lang Lang. My present crush is a Youtuber called Jack who looks about 17. Can post a link if anyone's interested. He has such a bubbly personality.

Primrose53 Fri 08-Dec-23 22:19:06

My Mum had loads of boyfriends …. Daniel O’Donnell, Boris, Trevor McDonald and many years ago Val Doonican and Reginald Bousinquet (sp?)

M0nica Sat 09-Dec-23 08:01:55

Tenko I agreed on the limited version of Vigo Mortennsen, no opinion on the other person you named.

It is amazing what film make-up and a wig can do to a man.
