Do you have an ‘old lady crush'?

Or an ‘old gentleman crush’, if you are not an old lady?
I have been watching The Good Doctor, about a surgeon with autism and savant syndrome. You must suspend belief a great deal, but I have developed the said ‘old lady crush’ on Freddie Highmore, who plays Shaun, after seeing him interviewed on You Tube.
My friend loves Harry Styles, and my daughter-in-law says her crush is Timothee Chalamet ( whoever he is)

I don’t count my Paul McCartney or Sam Neill crushes, as they are nearer in age.

Tom Ward …the older series of Silent Witness ….after he and Willuam Gaminara left it sort of fell off. All day long Tom Ward.

Since 1968 I have had a crush on Quo’s Francis Rossi! I have met him twice & age has improved him for sure!

It's still the oldies with me.Gary Cooper ,Grogory Peck, James Garner and always top, Paul Newman those blue eyes.
Aiden Turner until DH pointed out his big hairy feet in "Lord of the Rings", I picture them under his socks.

I'm sorry to hear about Aiden Turner's big hairy feet in 'Lord of the Rings' - oh dear, perhaps they were foot wigs?!

Alison I think he did it on purpose. DD and I had been commentating on his phew as she put it in Poldark and I agreed. They must have been footwigs.
He can agree with Paul Newman, after watching an old film "Hombre, "a few weeks ago. The eyes certainly have it.

Matthew Goode, not so much as when he's playing posh parts but as the slightly scruffy Declan in Leap Year.

More than one male Italian opera singer.

Benicio Del Toro....not your standard 'handsome' at all but in a film called Sicario, total charisma.

I do. Three Turkish actors. Gokhan Alkan, Engin Akyürek and Can Yaman. blush

I became hooked on Turkish dramas, when my health failed and I was confined to barracks. Pure escapism.

The bonus is I am also learning to speak Turkish! 🤣

P.S. Please don't tell anyone! wink

Have you found Kurtlar Vadisi yet. My partner used to watch it when I lived in Turkey. Turkish men were absolutely obsessed with it.

Nigel Havers everytime!!

I had a thing about Manitas de Plata when I was 13…mainly because he was a gypsy and I always wanted to grow up as a Romany.

Spuddy Sat 09-Dec-23 10:26:33

I had Ian McCaskill on my school desk lid in 1978 when I was 13! A lot of my classmates took the -p- out of me for that as they were obsessed with that blond bloke from the Dollar singing group but I always found him utterly creepy so I'd drool over Ian instead even though he was 40 I think!

Juliet27 Sat 09-Dec-23 10:18:04

Ah yes Grace - love his smile

Spuddy Sat 09-Dec-23 10:17:33

I'm an ''old'' lady at 58 and my old man crush is John de Lancie, who was Star Trek's Q. While Q is 4 billion years old, John is a mere 75 now! I think he's absolutely gorgeous!

Gracesnan Sat 09-Dec-23 10:15:31

I really like Jack on Eastenders, but my big crush is the old chap with the motorbike on the Voltarol advert-mind you, I did have a picture of Reginald Bosanquet on the lid of my desk at school!

downtoearth Sat 09-Dec-23 10:08:23

Ooh yes Terribull James Norton is very easy to look at.

TerriBull Sat 09-Dec-23 09:27:44

I think I remember now I thought James Norton in Happy Valley was attractive, in spite of playing someone really, really nasty. He's about 36, I certainly can't go any younger than that! Also Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, mid forties, I believe so well out of the boyish phase.

downtoearth Sat 09-Dec-23 09:06:27

Paul O' Grady was easy on my eye,but his sense of humour and kindness to animals really floated my boat.

M0nica Sat 09-Dec-23 08:01:55

Tenko I agreed on the limited version of Vigo Mortennsen, no opinion on the other person you named.

It is amazing what film make-up and a wig can do to a man.

Primrose53 Fri 08-Dec-23 22:19:06

My Mum had loads of boyfriends …. Daniel O’Donnell, Boris, Trevor McDonald and many years ago Val Doonican and Reginald Bousinquet (sp?)

JackyB Fri 08-Dec-23 21:04:45

I remember my mother when in her 80s had a soft spot for young men like David Mitchell and Lang Lang. My present crush is a Youtuber called Jack who looks about 17. Can post a link if anyone's interested. He has such a bubbly personality.

M0nica Fri 08-Dec-23 20:15:43

Tenko agree.

@ Granyactivist TBH it is more than a little cheesey
I imagine we all love our partners - in many cases still do with all our hearts even years after we have bid them that sad farewell- but this thread is lighthearted, meant as a bit of a joke and not to be taken too literally confusedconfusedconfused

henetha Fri 08-Dec-23 19:29:52

Yes, I did, MS, .It was clear that the whole cast were very close and so sad that the series was ending. It was one of my all time favourites.

Marydoll Fri 08-Dec-23 18:57:10

Gin

Marydoll where do you find Turkish dramas to watch? My favourite is the scruffy detective in Spiral, sorry I am hopeless with names. He turned up recently in another BBC4 Sat foreign drama series but was not as heart-stopping!

You Tube for Turkish dramas with subtitles.
I watch Spiral too and the one with Inspector Schiovone.
DH is great at finding French and Italian dramas.

Jaxjacky Fri 08-Dec-23 18:54:16

But I bagsied him first Meryl 🙂
