Thanks for posting that. I was a big Famous Five fan and loved a good adventure! I hope they at least keep this in the right time period. My 8 year old granddaughter loves Mallory Towers and that has been kept in the right period. She also loves The Railway Children and is apparently the only one in her class who has seen it. They are reading the book.
I’ve said elsewhere that I always disliked End Blyton as a child. I thought the children were just so boring, compared with say, the children in Noel Streatfeild’s books.
Now, though, I enjoy her books as portraits of the age they were written in, so I shall watch, if I remember!
For Enid Blyton fans this series starts tonight on CBBC at 5.25PM. Of course you can watch it on IPlayer too.
I know some of the values of that time are dated and out of touch with how we live our lives now, but for many of us Enid Blyton got us into reading for life.
