I love this classic story and have watched many different versions including the Muppet's Christmas Carol which is a hoot. However this year I have been surprised to enjoy a new version played out in the the comedy programme 'Bad Education' written by Jack Whitehall. Its the funniest thing I have seen for ages. I thought fans of Strictly's Layton might enjoy it. Let me know if it tickled you too.

just seen the end of the one starring michael hordern, which v good. on ?sky arts.
many famous actors inc a young chr biggins, whom i recognised behind dark whiskers and specs.
i tend to dislike more recent adaptations of classics, as they don't seem to care about getting the details right, of manners and dress, scene setting.

I love Jack Whitehall so I’ll check it out. I must admit I stopped watching Bad Education when he was no longer in it.

I don't think you can ever improve on Scrooge, circa 1956.
Alistair Sim and a young George Cole.

I agree .
Just watched Alistair Sim as Scrooge and George Cole as his younger self .
Kathleen Harrison played his housekeeper .
I thoroughly enjoyed it .

Absolutely. A masterpiece. Although Albert Finney as Scrooge, and the Disney animation are very watchable too.
Don't like Whitehall,or his father, so wont be watching that version.

The one with Patrick Stewart (Picard in Star Trek) is my favourite, am re-watching all of the Dickensian episodes at the moment. Very enjoyable this time round with plenty of mince pies!
