With this story I’m not so sure Agatha Christie hit the nail on the head in the first place Aveline, it’s not one of her strong books. I’m going to give it a go though, there’s nothing else on I want to watch tonight and I expect it to be well shot and picturesque scenery at least.

Freya that's just what I was afraid they'd do. Trying to be too clever and woke. Wish they'd just present the story as it was written. Agatha Christie knew what she was doing.

There's one on channel 5 next week. I think it's 'An invitation to a murder'. I do love these dramas. Just hoping they're not too 'woke' versions if you know what I mean. True to the period they were written.

Well this one isn't very true to the period from what I've read. Script writer has rewritten it to suit her take on colonialism. No thanks, will watch the original.

Some tvs stop supporting channels. I had to get a fire stick for my LG tv

Less than 4 hours to go now! Tried to watch"" Why Didn't They Ask Evans " yesterday but gave up as there seemed to be a 10 min advert break every 5 mins. Oh glorious BBC, looking forward to tonight, mine will be a Baileys with ice. Cheers fellow Christie fans!

Please can anyone confirm, just how you can get ITVX for free?
I tried but you have to pay for a subscription to get a free trial.

ITVX is a free service, like BBC iplayer. You may have to put your email in, I can't remember, but it's definitely free. Go to Freeview on your TV and you should be able to get it. Good luck.

I know. flump. It was filmed in a friend's village. It sounds like it should be good. Fingers crossed.

Aveline. I haven't watched Murder is Easy yet, but the cast is mostly British and the programme was made in Scotland.

‘Invitation To A Murder’ was poor, I fell asleep and missed who dunnit, but forced myself to re-watch the next day.

Boring, drawn out, slow, and the bossy head-girl florist was a right pain.

Disappointing.

Currently watching 'Death on the Nile' with Peter Ustinov as Poirot. That's the way to do it! Perfect.

It was absolutely dire.

I started to watch and I can only say it was do bad after 15 minutes i turned it off. It’s also an American production meant to be in England not good.

DrWatson Mon 25-Dec-23 15:24:44

Drama channel has a regular supply of old Marple episodes.

Aveline Mon 25-Dec-23 12:27:22

I was originally told that ITVX was not available in my area so I gave up. Then one day it just appeared among all my other apps like Netflix etc. Give it time.

Soniah I emailed them and they wanted to know make and model of my Samsung smart TV and told me the only way I can get it is to pay. My daughter tried to install it on my TV but couldn't get it. Get all other free channels . I used to be able to get ITV hub but can't get ITV X.

Soniah Mon 25-Dec-23 11:27:23

You only pay for it x if you have premium with no adverts, it's free otherwise

Whiff Mon 25-Dec-23 11:18:58

I should say turned the one with John Malcovic ( not spelt correctly but can't think how it's spelt) it was ABC murders . When the woman was walking on his back turned off as that wasn't Agatha Christie.

Whiff Mon 25-Dec-23 11:16:13

Some of the Agatha Christie are on UKTV, iPlayer and My 5 . I can't get ITV X unless I pay which I won't do but some are on there.

Pretty much on bed rest with this lingering bug - I'm really looking forward to watching Agatha Christie .
I'm a complete addict .So thank you !

Aveline Mon 25-Dec-23 10:30:29

Watched this yesterday pm. All settled with DH and fruitcake happily expectant. It was AWFUL! Obviously an American attempt at a classic British genre. It was full of howlers. At first we couldn't work out why some of the actors were speaking the way they did but soon twigged - they were Americans trying to speak with a British accent.
Now looking forward to the BBC Agatha Christie drama next week.

Some of them have to have at least some changes though. After all, the original title of And Then There Were None is completely unacceptable now. I agree that changes are sometimes overdone, and then you’re left feeling that whoever put in too many changes should just have written something of their own.
