I've really enjoyed the two series of this lavish production. It's set in New York at the end of the 19th century. Written by Julian Fellowes so a bit Downton for Americans. Tremendous snobbery, gossip and romance. Hilarious performance by Christine Beransky as an arch snob of the old brigade.
I found this on NOW TV but it's a Sky Atlantic production.

I’ve tried to like it, I’ve loved the clothes, but somehow I can’t get really into it, there are no characters that I particularly like, maybe that’s why.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the two series. Hope there’s another one.

There are so may stories. The black struggle and the union story as well as the 'downstairs' stories are good.

Loved the first series but I enjoyed the second even more!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the two series, and hope there will be more. The costumes are a delight and the storylines more than acceptable.

It must cost a fortune to produce. The clothes and the settings are so well done

I'm looking forward to another series and seeing what's happening to there lives. It's just a bit of escapism from the lousy weather.

I'm about half way through series one but I'm struggling a bit as I'm not really finding any of the main characters very likeable.

I didn't really think about whether or not I liked the principal characters. I've read Edith Wharton's books about that time and this series seems pretty accurate. It was a very strange time in America.

I'm surprised that two people on here have said they don't like the characters. I never expect to like all the characters in a drama, often I dislike many of them but still find a programme watchable and/ or interesting. This is a period drama and some of the snobbery, entitled rich or unpleasantness has to be put into the context of the period. As stories unfold, past history and life experiences are written in so we get to know why some characters act in a certain way. I think Christine Beransky's character is great to watch.
