Anyone watching this (Sky Atlantic)? I was really looking forward to what is a rather dark thriller set in Alaska but Jodie Foster talks as if she has her jaws wired and many others in the cast also seem to be muttering rather than uttering! If you can't hear the dialogue it makes for a somewhat puzzling viewing experience.

The True Detective I'm watching has Matthew McConaughey in and the speech is very muffled and based in Louisiana I believe. It's very hard work tbh.

I've just watched the first episode of the new series and can't find any issue with the sound on that at all. So think I'll stick with it for now.

I've watched the episode again and heard everything just fine. Maybe I was watching too late at night before and not concentrating sufficiently! Anyway, enjoying it now. Recommend it to those liking their crimes on the horrible side.

I was looking forward to watching this. You can only watch it weekly at the moment - unless someone knows otherwise.

This mumbling seems to be getting worse and worse. It is especially bad on some American show where they have an strong accent.

We end up turning the volume up higher and higher. And then get deafened when the adverts come on.

My DH is a bit deaf but doesn't like subtitles as he says they are too distracting.

Sometimes the television is so loud I can't hear it - IYSWIM

a strong accent - rolls eyes (we need a smiley for this)
