Joan Bakewell has left these shows..omg what a loss. Of course she had to retire sometime and I know she hasn't been well, but she had SUCH a presence and added so much value to the heats.
She is irreplaceable, so I hope they don't shoe in some uninformed 'celebrity' from the pool of talking heads to annoy and distract us. Stephen Manghan's unfunny quips are just about as much as I can tolerate in these, my two favourite TV shows of all time.
Yes, you might have noticed, I'm posting a lot at the moment..I'm confined to barracks with a bad head cold and cough. I'll be over it soon.

Yes she was unique. Many years of experience - remember when she was “the thinking man’s crumpet”. She is an intellectual and I do miss her introducing the Portrait Artist or the Landscape Artist of the “yaaar”.

I'm wondering , who Sky will select to replace Joan Bakewell
.
She's a very hard act to follow .

I have nothing against the following presenters , but
I'm hoping that it won't be Fern Britton and her irritating manner , Ann Richardson relating everything to sex ,
Helen Skelton with her put - on accent or Lorraine Kelly - nice as she is , Sue Perkins - too jokey ...

My choice is Carol
Klein - a great gardener , but also extremely poetic and she used to be an art teacher .

She will be a hard act to follow, but I’ll watch who they pick with interest. Probably helps that I don’t mind Stephen Mangan though.

What about Sarah Beeny/Imelda Staunton/Alison Steadman/Dawn French/Kristen Scott Thomas?
Just please let it be someone who makes it about the art and the artists and not about themselves! Just as the sainted Joan did.
But NOT Carol Klein /Joanna Lumley/ Clare Balding/Sue (I think I'm a Wit😱) Perkins....et al
Stephen Manghan is a very good actor...he should stick with that. I personally loved Frank Skinner's approach ...now he DID add lighthearted humour and wit.

Can we have 3 new judges too please.

Sarah Beeny would be a good choice. As long as it isn't the one on Pottery Throwdown.

Not keen on Sarah Beeny .
Another suggestion :
The gorgeous Moira Stuart .

It would be a better show if they picked the best painting rather than one that a chimp could do.

Old post. These programmes have moved on since then.
