Paul B's 'thanks mate' when he was fired was class.

Charleygirl5 Thu 08-Feb-24 22:11:47

I am not a fan of cheesecakes but I would have to be paid to try one.

I would have fired all 3 fellows this evening but the programme would be finished in a few weeks time going by my method.

BlueBelle Thu 08-Feb-24 22:06:27

Oh my word they were horrendous tonight
All the cheesecakes looked hideous it was the sellers that won the task not the item 🤣
Do people really pay £7 in London for an individual cheesecake I can get a main meal for that

OldFrill Thu 08-Feb-24 22:00:20

Cheesecake anyone?

Millie22 Fri 02-Feb-24 14:04:42

It was hilarious 😂

Crumble mix on the fish cakes and no flour in the brownies. I do think it is very scripted though so we probably don't see things they have got right.

I'll have to go back and watch what I missed when I nodded off, I'm glad to find out Virdi's actual name, I came round at the end when they were in the boardroom and thought he was called "Birdy", although I did think, "surely not!" shock

Nandalot Fri 02-Feb-24 11:39:13

I’m did write Virdi, ..autocorrect.

Maggiemaybe Fri 02-Feb-24 11:32:15

I thought they were making the food at those prices - even then it seemed extortionate!

Nandalot Fri 02-Feb-24 11:26:49

I think Verdi should have gone. For someone in the events organising business,he had no clue. Also I cannot understand how the catering companies can charge such a lot for ingredients and method. I can’t remember what the final total was but the opening price for toad inthe hole was £60!

annodomini Fri 02-Feb-24 10:46:26

If self-importance was a quality Lord Sugar is looking for, Virdi wins hands-down.

merlotgran Fri 02-Feb-24 10:00:29

Greg Wallace would probably love crumble mix on his fish cake. 😂

TerriBull Fri 02-Feb-24 09:55:55

Yes I'm slightly embarrassed to say I watched it, although I fell asleep in the opening one last night. It's all staged of course, carefully edited to make them look plonkers to over exaggerate their abilities, although possibly what we see is what you get!

Occasionally I appreciate an hour's reasonably entertaining drivel, I don't think anyone takes The Apprentice seriously, well I certainly don't!

BlueBelle Fri 02-Feb-24 09:51:19

No Maggie they don’t change much apart from ‘she of the teeth’ which get whiter each time she appears I need to put my sun glasses on now

Maggiemaybe Fri 02-Feb-24 09:39:28

To be fair though, arranging and running a profitable corporate event with lunch at such short notice wouldn’t be easy for anyone, and of course the editors choose what to focus on for our amusement, so we don’t get a true picture of the candidates. I enjoy it for what it is, pure entertainment. One of the very few things I miss about working is The Apprentice sweepstake we had, and cheering on my candidate despite it being obvious from the start that they weren’t going to last long.

Lord Sugar and his team never seem to age, do they?

Charleygirl5 Fri 02-Feb-24 09:00:11

I decided to watch it and that was a mistake. Who in their right mind would accept a glass of water as a welcoming drink? I do not drink spirits so a glass of orange juice would have suited me. I am no cook but I could not believe what I was watching. It rarely improves.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 02-Feb-24 08:27:37

lemsip yes I think you are correct, they are selected because they will make good viewing

I enjoy watching it, although I do often shout at the TV

lemsip Fri 02-Feb-24 08:12:19

these people chosen from all applicants were 'best for a television show' not necessarily best of all!
I like 'The Apprentice'

BlueBelle Fri 02-Feb-24 08:02:50

There’s a doctor, a dentist and a pharmacist amongst them I think that’s very very scary there doesn’t so far seem to be a brain cell showing above the parapet
But yes it’s quite funny isn’t it and somehow compulsive to watch to see just how bad they are

GrannyGravy13 Fri 02-Feb-24 07:54:25

I look at it as though it is a comedy, cannot take any of the contestants over recent series seriously.

This current cohort appear to be rather unworldly and have ideas higher than their abilities.

nanna8 Fri 02-Feb-24 07:10:44

I love the British version of The Apprentice. Heaps better than the old Orange Donald one. I like Alan Sugar, he is great. Great entertainment. I suspect the contestants are told to be arrogant and nasty to get the ratings up. Unfortunately they don’t show it here . I doubt anyone really successful and climbing the ladder of success would go on it,though, because they would have to put their real job on hold for the filming.

Lexisgranny Fri 02-Feb-24 06:54:30

If those contestants were the best 18 applicants, I hate to think what was the standard of the unsuccessful ones. There was arrogance aplenty but common sense sadly lacking.

BlueBelle Fri 02-Feb-24 05:56:10

Anyone watching this very daft show, that I get drawn to against my will 😂
All I can say is what a shower … Verdhi lost it for the group he was so far up his own bum with his ‘watch me watch me’ attitude and his dreadful time keeping and he should have gone not the ‘did little’ Oliver
The audience on BBC 2 got it right
