Anyone watching this very daft show, that I get drawn to against my will 😂
All I can say is what a shower … Verdhi lost it for the group he was so far up his own bum with his ‘watch me watch me’ attitude and his dreadful time keeping and he should have gone not the ‘did little’ Oliver
The audience on BBC 2 got it right

Have just watched part of The Apprentice 2025 and it was like being in a time warp. All the usual ‘his fault, her fault’ arguments were there. All the candidates just wanted to stab the others in the back.
How much were the candidates paid to laugh at Sugar’s terrible jokes? They were even worse than usual. Karren was just as patronising as ever. And what has she done to her face? She looks awful. She was attractive before but how she’s just ordinary! What a shower! I probably won’t watch again, unless it’s to see just how bad it gets!

Karren has the look of other celebs who have used the slimming drug. I saw her on the One Show and she looked awful.

I am not sure whether I shall watch the remainder of the show, it was more of the same, and the laughter at AS's jokes really irritates me!

Back again, against my better judgement what an awful shower of teeth and cheeks and very, very little common sense
Austria looked beautiful, ‘the shower’ looked awful and seemed like rabbits caught in the headlights, not an ounce of common sense between them Not sure who should have gone out (most of them I think 🤣🤣🤣)

I think Tim Campbell was the very first winner, when The Apprentice was just that, Alan Sugar’s search for a real apprentice to himself.

I used to really enjoy it, back in the day, but haven’t watched it for a few years.

I turned it on the other night, not much on, but after the first few minutes of them striding about declaring how they were going to take on the world…. I switched the tv off.

TerriBull Sat 01-Feb-25 07:41:35

I can't help feeling they're primed to spout all that self aggrandising nonsense at the intro whilst striding along dressed in power suits accompanied by wheelie suitcase, which makes them look foolish when they rarely live up to their own self promotions. All staged but I'm ashamed to say I do, at times, find it entertaining. Like other long running competitive edge spectacles, very formulaic probably past its sell by dare.

Thanks Merlotgran! I got that completely wrong! . Duh! Shame I can’t change it.

I’ll never forget her pompous comment to a poor Apprentice that they should call her ‘Ms.Brady’. Who does she think she is?

Er….Baroness Brady. 😂

I don't think anyone believes it's real. It's a bit of fun that lets the viewers shout at the TV about how they would do the tasks better, when in fact many of them are all but impossible in the time allowed.

If someone gets to work with Alan Sugar, it will have been worth it, and I suspect he stays in touch with some of the ones who hang on until the later episodes. Some of them get media careers from it, too - the awful Katie Hopkins for one, and Saira Khan. I think Tim Campbell on the panel won it one year, too. They definitely know what they are letting themselves in for, and must think it's worth it.

I gave up watching this a few years ago. It gradually became more and more ridiculous. Most of the applicants seemed fairly useless - and I think they were encouraged to make grandiose claims that made them look stupid.

Also, it was like Alan Sugar was some sort of god. He was frequently extremely rude and seemed to enjoy humiliating the applicants. The interview section towards the end was nasty too. I don't think this is the way employers should treat prospective applicants or their permanent staff. It sets a very bad example.

I enjoy it.

The thing that irritates me most is when Lord Sugar cracks a weak 'joke' and everyone roars with laughter. Otherwise, I like watching the smug bunch of numpties making a mess of things. I like seeing the house they stay in, the places they work (Austria looked gorgeous last night) and how their self image departs from reality so quickly.

I'm sure they can't all be as bad as they seem - so much is in the edit. My favourite bits are the shopping channel one and the one where they have to find things from a list.

The Apprentice is back! Oh goodness, how will I cope?
When it first started, however many years ago, I loved it, but it has really gone downhill over the past few years.
These are my thoughts on why:-
Lord Sugar is nothing more than a pompous git! He thinks he is God, goes out of his way to make people feel really small, then ridicules them if they dare to show any sign of weakness.
Ms Brady is so up her own bottom that I doubt she’ll ever get back down. I’ll never forget her pompous comment to a poor Apprentice that they should call her ‘Ms.Brady’. Who does she think she is? She also likes to make people look small. I think she and Alan Sugar make a great team, the team from hell! Can’t stand either of them.
This is a boring repetitive programme that should have been ditched years ago. Sending the contestants to Austria or Outer Mongolia or where-ever does not make it more interesting. It’s an old, tired format, well past it’s sell by date. If I had my way, it would be fired, for sure!
Is it just me?

Can't stand the show.

I actually find it works better to sit when watching the show! An hour is too long on my feet.

BlueBelle Fri 09-Feb-24 08:30:15

tobyianathekid very interesting and informative post

I only watched the beginning so have to catch up with it.

Chocolate cheesecake? Not in this house. But DD has made avocado and lime cheesecake and, made properly, it can be very good. I think she used cream cheese and real cream rather than the vegan alternatives in the recipes.

I've made one with ricotta. It's less sticky.

NotSpaghetti Fri 09-Feb-24 00:22:49

I've also had avocado in sweet things so given that I don't eat out a lot it can't be that uncommon to be honest.

It seems to me that it's adaptable as it's really creamy and light and takes flavours well.

I had a set pudding from the Philippines that had coconut and avocado in (pretty sweet tbough) and my daughter made an avocado and chocolate creamy pudding a couple of years ago which was a sort of swirly mousse with crushed strawberries - I didn't ask for the recipe (!) but it was surprisingly tasty.

The thing I find strange in London is that people are willing to pay more for something to eat from a street food stall or pop up than if they went and sat down in comfort. So yes, £6 or £7 for a cheesecake sounds about right.
I too think the girl called Flo was impressive.

annodomini Thu 08-Feb-24 23:14:43

I didn't think they could do worse than they did last week, but they did. Whoever proposed using avocados in cheesecakes should have been fired out of hand! I hope his lordship doesn't have any more kitchen-based tasks up his sleeve in future.

Maggiemaybe Thu 08-Feb-24 23:03:08

I’ve just been watching Paul on You’re Fired. Just about everyone agreed he had to go, and so did I, but I did like him, he seemed such a genuine bloke. And I was with him when he said that if he’d dared pitch a mini cheesecake for £6 up North, however good it was, he’d have been thrown out on the street. Yet the two women from the London Dungeon agreed to pay over £13 for each one.

Has the world down in that there London gone mad? grin

BlueBelle Thu 08-Feb-24 22:54:39

Yes Crazy and the twits were giving her the tips !!! Beggars belief

crazyH Thu 08-Feb-24 22:46:23

There was one candidate who asked for a ‘tip’ when she was offering cheesecakes on the street 😂

Lilypops Thu 08-Feb-24 22:45:43

I thought that cheesecake had cream cheese in the mix , there wasn’t a sign of cream cheese being used, Or did I miss something. , Would anyone readily pay £7 for one cheesecake, but then it is London prices. They looked hideous ,

Lexisgranny Thu 08-Feb-24 22:36:29

The authenticity of the role of the corporate buyers was particularly questionable during this evenings programme. I can’t imagine any company agreeing to accept the standard of desserts that they were offered, some looked as if they had been dropping on the floor. Obviously there would have been no show if they had totally rejected them, but surely in the real world they would be taken to task for the quality of the cheesecakes which they purchased. Some realism would be welcome.

The only candidate who stood out was the young lady who negotiated for the girls’ team.
