Does anyone else dislike the slurping Pot Noodle advert disgusting

Shinamae Tue 27-Feb-24 23:43:08

I have never seen a Verisure advert that I liked, and the last couple…🤦‍♀️

And will never get back what they paid in! Or their relatives won't.

But they get a nice pen.

Sunlife ones are so fake! If it's the same people, they're probably 90+ by now! 🤣🤣

They play certain adverts at certain times of the day because they know a particular demographic will be watching.’

Yes, sitting with a nonagenarian neighbour watching afternoon tv I could really do without ads for cremation! Walk-in baths and stairlifts I am prepared to tolerate.

Elrel 😃

The women who have a pee problem at their age really should have been doing their pelvic floor exercises.

I love the one with the tiny girl going to buy her mum some chocolate, and paying with buttons and a tiny toy. Then the kindly shopkeeper gives her her "change", the toy.

Oh yes, love that one 🙂

I usually shout at the Sunlife ones.

I hate the pee pad adverts and the ones for erectile disfunction. How would you explain those away to a seven year old boy, or girl. Why do they need to be shown early in the evening.

Well, one 12 year old looked at me wide-eyed when the one for erectile dysfunction came on 🤔

Whst happened to the 9 o'clock watershed?

MissAdventure Tue 27-Feb-24 23:20:44

Slurping noodler.
What a grand term! grin

Oh, it's vile.
As is the one with a woman with a mouth in her forehead.

The mute button is useful but there should be one that hides the picture during adverts too.

Who thinks up this rubbish and do they honestly think it induces people to buy the products?

Moonwatcher1904 Tue 27-Feb-24 23:15:51

As we are both retired we see a lot of daytime tv. We have the Drama channel on but the adverts are terrible. Buy a King Charles coin for £70 but after April 30th it goes up to £149...why? They sell a lot of different coins like this during the day but never see these ads at night. There's also some JML ads that last several minutes more than normal ones because the man shouting about the product repeats his self. Lots of charity ads and funeral ads as well.
Ads at night so annoying with loud rap music or people doing stupid things. Ads not half as good as they used to be. Well that's my thoughts. I can't stand that slurping noodler either and if I let it all go heaven help anyone around me....smile

MissAdventure Tue 27-Feb-24 23:09:49

I havent seen the pot noodle ad.
I suppose the fact that I'm curious now proves that advertising works.

Greta Tue 27-Feb-24 22:53:41

Many commercials just put you off the products they're advertising. The assisted bathing ad really annoys me. The young slim and very agile model does not look as if she needs assisted bathing.

Have to turn the sound off on the Pot Noodle one. Think they are disgusting anyway and would never buy one!

Yes Curtaintwitcher - the adverts really do reflect a drop in standards. I think it must be the advertisers' perception of what people really want to see. IMO almost everything on TV that is meant to be funny is either crude or embarrassing. Most so-called comedy shows are full of filth -seems nobody can actually write anything humorous any more without resorting to that sort of thing.

This cracks me up every time 😂

Do the ads reflect people's drop in standards? All sense of decency and decorum is rapidly evaporating.
Many advertisers try to influence people's thinking, so they may not be as innocent as they seem.

Pot Noodle one is gross! so ,much for trying to teach little ones good manners. (yes I know little ones would not be eating pot noodles) it was just a figure of speech.

Disgusting as is the crap it toilet roll adverts and bulky pee pads and erectile dysfunction adverts totally annoying.

Long gone are the days when adverts had some subtlety, eh?

Are we now so dumbed-down that ad agencies have decided to go for the lowest common denominator in the hope of securing the widest audience (and keeping the account of the manufacturer) - or are they part of the dumbing-down process that appears to have forced itself on us?

I know we all need to attend to various bodily functions that aren't usually discussed around the dinner-table (for those that still sit around a dinner-table), but could the adverts not have a little more finesse?

Or am I just an out-of-date, tetchy, old woman? grin

Yes, that type of ad always came on in the first quiet time we had at work.

A quick cup of tea, before the onslaught of people coming home from their day centres.
As soon as we sat down, (bearing I mind I worked with all men) on would come dentures, bladder weakness, denture fixative, and viagra adverts.

Rarely watch anything live, so don't see too many adverts. That said, the adverts within streaming services ARE ALL THE SAME! I'd actually quite like to see different ones. They don't make them like they used to, though. Enjoyed the Ribenanberry ones! Always look forward to the Christmas ads too.
