I would prefer to dig my eyeballs out with a rusty screwdriver!

Just read the posts. Humiliating, an audience ’avidly watching, and laughing at, ever escalating violence and cruelty’! Have you ever watched Big Brother? That’s not what it is about at all. But carry on looking down your nose if it makes you feel good - just please do it off this thread?

Eloethan Tue 05-Mar-24 00:41:55

It's an opinion. Why should it spoil anyone's enjoyment of watching it if they feel it's just good, harmless fun?

Kate1949 Tue 05-Mar-24 00:20:58

Not moralising really.

Doodledog Tue 05-Mar-24 00:13:35

grin. I wondered how long it would be before the moralising started.

Watch, don’t watch, but please don’t spoil it for those of us who enjoy it. It’s not remotely like Jeremy Kyle 😂. I realise it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but a lot of people see it as entertainment, pure and simple.

Kate1949 Tue 05-Mar-24 00:00:47

Blimey. I'm quite surprised that anyone is watching celebrities desperate for attention and money.

Eloethan Mon 04-Mar-24 23:52:50

I don't like any of these programmes (eg I'm a Celebrity Get me out of here, Love Island, etc) that seem to relish putting people in uncomfortable/confrontational/humiliating situations, just to watch their reactions.

Years ago there was a screen play (I believe written by Dennis Potter) called The Year of the Sex Olympics. I think I must have been about 12 at the time but I can remember feeling horrified at what it portrayed - a TV audience avidly watching, and laughing at, ever-escalating violence and cruelty.

It took a suicide to get the Jeremy Kyle Show taken off air but these are watered down versions that have the same sort of aims and methodology.

Oh my goodness isn't Sharon thin and her face is so different . She used to have a super figure . Tv adds half a stone so she must be tiny .

maddyone Mon 04-Mar-24 23:37:39

I didn’t watch. I might occasionally.

Doodledog Mon 04-Mar-24 23:32:38

Excellent - another two in the BB gang! I am off to my bed now, but I'll see you all tomorrow. Enjoy Tenerife, LadyGaGa - I assume it's too late to cancel? wink We'll still be here when you get back.

BlueBelle Mon 04-Mar-24 23:32:33

Just looked at the line up Can’t stand Sharon osborne not keen on Fern Britton or Louis Walsh he’s a wet week Craigy is ok ish bit wooden, love Levi roots and the rest I ve never heard of ? So so far not tempted too much

Catterygirl Mon 04-Mar-24 23:10:04

Not for me with all the Z listers but did watch the show tonight to see what all the fuss is about.
Would rather watch Death in Paradise with a touch of sunshine.

LadyGaGa Mon 04-Mar-24 23:08:31

Me too, me too! Count me in please! I’m a dyed in the wool BB lover!! Can’t wait to get to know them all. I’m going against the grain, but so far I like Nikita and (whispering quietly) David. I just think he’ll cause some laughs and drama. For some reason I’ve never taken to Fern, even though I’m sure she’s lovely - not sure why really. Unfortunately I’m going to Tenerife tomorrow so will have to catch up when I get home 😭 I’ve even contemplated taking my Amazon Fire stick to see if I can watch ITV! Watching Late and Live now on ITV2. I should get to bed. Enjoy your BB watching!

Theexwife Mon 04-Mar-24 22:42:59

I wouldn’t miss it, I’ve watched every series.

Doodledog Mon 04-Mar-24 22:36:40

Men are hopeless with programmes like this 😂. Mine has no idea what I see in it, and I don't understand how he's not interested.

rafichagran Mon 04-Mar-24 22:32:01

Just upset Mr R going to watch it on ITV 2 now. First impressions I like Levi,Fern and Coulson.

Doodledog Mon 04-Mar-24 22:30:49

I'm going to watch that later, BlueBelle.

I think this might be a good series. The one with the late Pete Burns was my favourite, though.

BlueBelle Mon 04-Mar-24 22:28:19

I was watching a very good documentary on Domestic Violence and how a woman was killed by her husband on Channel 4 it was called The Push and very well done I thought

MayBee70 Mon 04-Mar-24 22:27:26

I remember yeas ago lying in bed watching Big Brother and thinking to myself ‘why am I lying in bed wide awake watching other people sleeping?’

Doodledog Mon 04-Mar-24 22:27:26

These are good choices. Well done, Sharon and Louis.

Doodledog Mon 04-Mar-24 22:24:48

I'm pleased they've spared Coulson. I've got his name now grin.

Shelflife Mon 04-Mar-24 22:20:30

My three favourites too Doodledog.
My DH is the same - not remotely interested !!

Doodledog Mon 04-Mar-24 22:19:53

Mostly, I'm talking to myself though grin

rafichagran Mon 04-Mar-24 22:19:52
