I have seen advertisement about it being on again after a few years and decided I'm not watching a load of unknowns until I saw exactly who would be in the house ( most are far from unknown ) and my thoughts did a 360° turn, so now yes I will be watching with interest.

👀

Sarnia

I would prefer to dig my eyeballs out with a rusty screwdriver!

Now that would be escalated violence and cruelty. Maybe choose a different show on which to do it?

It took me a minute to work that out, but yes - the ‘plastic fantastic’ quotient is high grin.

Sharon does look terrible she’s been on that slimming drug. I forget what it’s called, but she has said she needs to put weight on because she’s lost far too much.
Considering she spent over £100,000 on surgery, she is not looking good. She looks more like a waxwork.
Whether it’s true or not, I don’t know but I did read somewhere that she didn’t want to stay in for the whole three weeks. She was doing five days. I think they said for £100,000 a day 😵‍💫🫣😳

Doodledog Tue 05-Mar-24 08:54:44

I know it takes hours to do her makeup on the X Factor, and she wouldn’t appear without it. I haven’t seen that for years, so don’t know if she’s still a judge, but I don’t know how she’s going to cope with being filmed fresh out of bed. I wonder if she has special dispensation on that score? I hope not, as it defeats the point, really.

Not for me, I’m afraid! Sometimes I watch I’m a Celeb, but most reality shows are just not for me! My elder daughter likes them though

DanniRae Tue 05-Mar-24 09:35:43

I watched it this morning before Mr R got up.......he really dislikes it! But I don't. grin I used to love it years ago when it was ordinary people. My favourite was the one with Josie Gibson (Now hosting on This Morning).
Not keen on the man with no trousers on... no under pants either according to Sharon! I am horrified at Kate's uncle being on it....I hope he doesn't do anything to embarrass her hmm
So I'll join the Celeb Big Brother gang on GN if I may? I'll be back!!

Joseann Tue 05-Mar-24 09:41:01

I don't watch it, but I might dip in here for updates because I have heard of several of them this time. DD2 watches it, and I think DiL does.

I’m in🤣

The more the merrier grin. I prefer the Sleb ones, as I reckon they know what they are letting themselves in for. Also, the 'ordinary people' ones attract more wannabes who behave outrageously in the hope of being famous one day, and they get on my nerves more.

The celebrities will have teams advising them and doing damage limitation when they leave, so it's less likely to have an adverse effect on them.

I think Gary will be out first. I guess he signed up before the P of W took ill. I doubt he'll have much to offer if he's not spilling the beans, and that would look really bad in the circumstances. No-trouser-man will annoy me the most, I think (I'll get their names before long). The young lad seems sweet. I can't work out what he does - something about a series based on a graphic novel - but everyone seems to like him and he comes across well so far.

Grannynannywanny Tue 05-Mar-24 10:02:23

I came across it while channel hopping last night and found myself drawn in. I’ve always liked Fern Britton and think she’ll be a good contestant. I’ve never heard of some of them including Gary Goldsmith. Not sure what makes him a celebrity just because he’s Carol Middleton’s brother. He does appear desperate to become a celebrity with his over the top antics. He’s reportedly a multimillionaire so presumably not in it for the money.

I’m a bit concerned that the crime rate will soar in Coronation St while Craigy is in the BB house 😊

This is an excellent point, and a real concern grin. I noticed that (shock, horror!) an unknown police officer was dealing with Adam last night.

I don't think many of them 'need' the money, though. Sharon O must be worth millions, and Louis and Fern can't be hard up either. The young ones, maybe - some of them are of the 'transient fame' variety, so are probably looking to cement their place in the public eye before their star fades.

Millie22 Tue 05-Mar-24 10:43:58

I read last night that Louie has over £100m so he certainly doesn't need the money but is getting £500,000 for cbb. I agree Sharon looks very thin and quite frail. That slimming pill was a bad decision.

I like Levi and Craig from Corrie. Not sure about Kate's uncle. He needs to be careful what he says.

Grannynannywanny Tue 05-Mar-24 11:29:20

I wonder if David decided all by himself that parading in minus his trousers would make him popular. It smacked of desperate attention seeking . I hope Big Brother turns down the heating till he’s forced to wear his trousers 🥶

I don’t understand what intelligent people see in this load of tripe.

shysal Tue 05-Mar-24 11:38:55

I have always watched BB and will enjoy this series. I only know about half of the participants, but am pleased that the average age this time is a bit higher than in the past.

I don’t understand what intelligent people see in this load of tripe.

A few years I was was on a forum for Big Brother, one contributer was a surgeon, others were proffesionals, it was a real mix of people.
I have watched BBfrom the 1st ever episode, Nasty Nick was on that one.
Ann Widdecome appeared in this show, and even people who did not agree with her politics, were voting for her, she was runner up, she was true to herself, where as others showed what they really were. Not all people watch it for the fights and bad language.
Of course posters have a right to comment on sny thread, but it would be nice if those if us that like it can discuss the show and it's contestants.

MayBee70 Tue 05-Mar-24 13:27:01

When I used to watch it at a time when my late teens/ early twenties kids used to watch it too we used to discuss it and it was a good way to talk about relationships with them without talking about their own personal relationships.

Doodledog Tue 05-Mar-24 13:29:20

I agree, rachifagran. I can fully understand why 'intelligent' people enjoy being entertained sometimes instead of educated; but I can't understand why anyone feels the need to look down on others for their choices.

It's downtime. It's for relaxation. It's interesting/amusing/infuriating in turns. What's the intellectual difference between people posting online and watching interactive TV? Not much, IMO.

Yes, that applies to soap opera too. Discussions about difficult issues can happen at a safe distance and allow people to explore one another's views on apparently hypothetical situations without conflict.

Tenko Tue 05-Mar-24 13:31:17

It’s not for me I’m afraid. I normally find the presenters very annoying.

Theexwife Tue 05-Mar-24 13:35:01

I watch it because I like people watching, sitting in a park, outside a cafe or better still sitting on my sofa.
