Vienna Blood - anyone watching?

Has anyone else seen this series on BBCiPlayer, filmed in Vienna? The interiors, streets and buildings shown are amazing. The stories are quite good too - a little different, and humerous. Vienna is now on my wish list for the summer. The title is evidently taken from a waltz composed by Strauss.

We watched this series a few years ago and enjoyed it. As you say, the backgrounds are wonderful and the pairing, if I remember correctly, of a police inspector and a young doctor and student of Freud (the time is early 1900s, I think) is interesting. I haven’t watched the more recent series yet.

Watched them all. Always have a soft spot for the policeman.

There are three series on iPlayer, and it seems a fourth is in production. I wish I had found it earlier - 'beautiful architecture, and perfect settings for the house interiors and public buildings. I too have a soft spot for the dogged, sad faced Inspector, unlucky in love, and who seemingly has just one suit.

We both enjoyed this for all the reasons quoted but the OH in particular loved it.

He'll be delirious to know that there's a 4th series in production.

I'm planning to watch Magpie Murders tonight - thank you Whiff.

Thank you for the recommendation.
I shall watch the series from the beginning. I'll also tell a friend about it, as having been born in Vienna, she will enjoy the scenery.

Episode 1 of the new series is great, really worth watching. 👍

I loved the previous two series and this one does not disappoint. It is so different and in my opinion well worth watching for once.

I have enjoyed watching all the series over the last couple of months. Saw the first part of the latest one a couple nights ago, shame it's only two episodes this time.

I agree. However I expect it's very complicated and expensive to film. I'd rather have a few really well done programmes like this than endless rubbishy cheap ones.

I too really like Vienna Blood. Just watched first ep from S4. I was really struck by the hierarchy in the police whereby the police chief took all the credit for his subordinates hard work. I love the juxtaposition between the characterisation of Max Liebermann and Oskar Rheinhardt.

I have such a soft spot for Oskar.

He has such sad eyes.

He needs looking after.

😥

Aveline Sat 10-Aug-24 07:12:09

He does! Lovely eyes and shabby old suit.

jusnoneed Sat 10-Aug-24 08:20:01

Only realised that this is the last series when I watched part 2. No more to enjoy.

I love his accent too. Yes, I would love to bake him a cake or a gulasch.

Brilliant series.

I have to admit I've been struggling to stay awake, it's all so slow, and Oskar's voice is very deep. I like it but find sections of it very soporific.

Aveline Mon 12-Aug-24 07:28:10

I preferred it as four one hour episodes than two two hour ones.

Chestnut Mon 12-Aug-24 11:07:22

I record it and watch an hour at a time, so I'm not bothered with the transmission time. I definitely couldn't watch for 2 hours, I struggled to make one hour.
