I'm loving this series. It pretty much captures the mood of the time and the music is fab. Also, Dante is so beautiful. If I was 120 years younger!

Ooh no, it’s Virgil for me!

No worries Juliet, it's a deal.

Ask alice your post made me smilesmile
Was like wearing a uniform ,me also ,two tone suit ,ben sherman shirt, the crombie with the red hanky.
O those tights.
We had blakey studs in the heels of our
Shoes.
We must have sounded like a load of horses clip clopping along.smile
Even tho im nearly 69 im still going to northern soul, two tone, ska and reggae nights
All over 60s haveing a great time.

It is really good and well worth watching.

Mel1967 Wed 10-Apr-24 13:19:10

We’ve just watched episode 3.
A bit disappointed so far.
Lack of music.
Finding it very much like Peaky Blinders - but just a bit more up to date.

Agreed - I want to adopt Dante. Such a sensitive portrayal of a conflicted teenager in a difficult and dangerous scenario.

Loving it. I’m so tempted to binge watch, but I want it to last. 😃

keepingquiet Tue 09-Apr-24 22:31:12

I binged it too and loved it. No spoilers, promise. Loved the music, the believable characters and could just about cope with the violence. Took me back too.

AskAlice Tue 09-Apr-24 22:28:12

Also thought Dante was to die for. What an inspirational young man even though he had his flaws - not many of those about when I was young!

AskAlice Tue 09-Apr-24 22:26:13

Just watched the last episode. Took me back to my youth! Did anyone else watch the follow-on about the culture and fashion. I so wanted a dark blue and light purple/pink two-tone mini skirt mohair suit, but only had the green and gold - not so stylish. Also had a crombie overcoat (without the velvet collar), and a Ben Sherman shirt in mustard and green plaid check. Sounds awful now, but I thought I was the bees knees then!

And does anyone else remember wearing those clunky flat shoes with the striped shoe laces and the tights with the holes or patterns up the side?

Just loved this series, even though it was quite dark at times. I grew up in Hackney and we had a very large black/caribbean poplulation where I lived so I grew up with very heave Reggae and Ska. Two-Tone was a natural progression and was the background to my development into adulthood. This programme really resounded with me!

Yes I’m enjoying it too. Michelle Dockery is brilliant and that was actually her singing. Beautiful voice.

I never knew that much went on there, feel sorry for the offspring of such parents. Like to know what pub in Birmingham they filmed in, why did they put that finger incident in, I couldn't watch it so missed a bit.Looking forward to see the rest but do hope there are no more scenes like that one.

Visgir1 Mon 01-Apr-24 20:45:40

I am savouring it.. I don't want to binge it.
Saw lasts night and loved it, I thought it was funny at times, part 2 tonight.

granfromafar Sun 31-Mar-24 22:33:48

Am already watching episode 2 on iplayer as will miss it tomorrow. Excellent.

nanaK54 Sun 31-Mar-24 22:32:43

It was really interesting, I am looking forward to seeing how it develops. Agree about the music.

Doodledog Sun 31-Mar-24 22:23:04

I’m looking forward to this.

granfromafar Sun 31-Mar-24 22:22:20

Just watched the first episode, set in 1980s Birmingham. Great cast- I hardly recognised Michelle Dockery, a very different role to Lady Mary in Downton Abbey. Great music too.
