We did like to watch it but called it “London’s vaguely smouldering” as there didn’t seem to be many fires in the later episodes!

I think the 1990s was the golden era for TV drama and by the later series there were probably budget constraints. The characters and plots were also poor by then. Start at the beginning and there are plenty of fires.

It started in 1986 and ran for 14 series until 2002. The earlier series were wonderful, but eventually it went downhill as they always do. It was set in fictional Blackwall fire station and filmed at Dockhead Fire Station in Bermondsey.

It was just astonishing how they filmed so many real fires, using real fire fighters and yet the actors also had to participate. There was no fakery and no CGI, everything looked so real. You even followed them in the cab and on the streets as the fire engines went out.

I loved the show and wanted to be their cook.

I too watched it

I used to watch this (early 90's I think). Didn't it end rather abruptly with a cliff hanger? Everyone was expecting another series that didn't materialise.

Maybe Dockhead Fire Station. Blackwall.

Oh yes, Sicknote and his Pavarotti renditions! 🎶
Wasn't it the Fire station at China Wharf they used for filming?

I used to love London's Burning. Even all these years later the guy who raped Josie is known in our house as 'the one who raped Josie'. Nor sure the AC even know who Josie was. Poor man would probably be mortified if he knew that was his most memorable performance smile (for us, anyway).

Just discovered London's Burning is on UKTV Play, one of the best series ever made. Great characters, stories based on actual events and featuring real fires. There were 172 episodes and it was one of ITV's longest running series.

Just loved the characters, Bayleaf, Charisma, Vaseline, Sicknote etc. I'm really enjoying this and thought others might like to know it's on.
