I have watched the whole series. It is excellent with different stories in each episode but all working in the factory. A breath of fresh air amongst some of the depressing programmes airing these days.

Oh, I remember that - was it really that long ago?! Excellent series.

Has anyone noticed this showing on BBC4 but also on iPlayer?

It's absolutely amazing, the writing is far better than anything we see nowadays. And the actors are A list!

We have young Sarah Lancashire and Siobhan Finneran (long before Happy Valley), John Simm, Christopher Eccleston, Philip Glenister, Lesley Sharp (those are the one I know but there are others). And that's just the first three episodes.

Quote: The series was highly acclaimed by the critics, winning the British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series in 2001. The BBC said the programme was axed following declining ratings, but creator Abbott said the programme's demise was down to "a lack of writers able to come up with stories good enough to carry the stand alone episodes."

So there you have it, not enough good writers. What has happened?

There are 4 series and 27 episodes so I hope they show them all. I don't know how I missed this when it was on. I really am blown away and suggest you try the first one with John Simm.
