Bargain Hunt

We watch it but so many repeated programmes. Im amazed at some of the rubbish which sells.

Sometimes I catch the end as I turn on for the news.

Seeing one of the teams excited at 'winning' because they lost less money than the other team is just plain daft.

Dreadful programme. My mother watched it infinitum and put me off for life.

Any item is only worth what someone else is willing to pay, that person has to be at that auction, in fact it takes at least 2 to bid the price up.

It seems from you guys messages that it is the participants that are the problem not the actual time-tested format of the show.

I think bargaining is part of the event that makes hunting an item on which to make a profit more interesting. Any stall holder (I do Sunday markets for a charity) would rather hear your offer instead of just walking away. We all have the choice to refuse or accept and a small profit is better than none at all. It's the basis that has worked for many years in market trading and long may it continue.

I don’t mind the program - but that awful high-kick they do at the end really irritates me. Why on earth do they keep that going?

Oh me too , in my opinion it is quite unnecessary along with the “ jump & turn “ that is at the start of the programme

Never watch it

We watch it quite often whilst having our lunch. When people go to a second hand fair they’re supposed to barter, that’s the idea.
Some of the prices some of the stall holders ask for are way beyond what is reasonable for second hand tat. It’s obvious they’re asking too much when the item fails to bring anything near the asking price when it’s auctioned. So no, I have no sympathy for the stall holders because they’re mostly selling house clearance stuff that’s way over priced.

I love Flog It, but some people on it drive me mad. The expert advises with a recommended price and reserve, and the seller thinks about it (then or later) and wants to increase the reserve price. Sometimes the item doesn't sell with the new reserve (I think Good!), and sometimes it sells for a lot more than the top price - surely it would have sold for that even with the higher reserve price? People are so greedy!

I watch it occasionally but prefer just the auction bit towards the end. Some of the choices appear to be so expensive and don't make much - if any - as a consequence.

I used to watch it regularly, but always thought what a backwards concept the whole programme was/is. After all the Auction should be the place buyers go to…then try to sell what they’ve bought, not the other way around…auctions are where most dealers get their stock from in the first place!
It’s slightly batty and no wonder most contestants fail to make money! ( I know I was/am a dealer ( semi- retired) - but not antiques!)

I too hate the kick at the end and also asking what they expect from an expert. They mostly want “ fun”.
I watch it nearly every day and do enjoy it but I wish it wasn’t so rigidly formulaic and often too much silly giggling.

I'm glad I'm not on my own in still being a fan of BH although the forced and shouty jollity does annoy me and I was delighted when they stopped having someone rush in with headphones on to tell the teams what time they had left....all blatantly designed to entice younger viewers.... It settles me down for a few minutes in an uncertain world and I like predicting which items will make the most profit.

My husband and I watch it most days. We really like it especially Natasha who is so natural. Christina is beautiful but she shouldn’t put on a forced laugh about everything she says. It’s refreshing to see people getting fun from making a few pounds or losing them! It’s entertainment after all and wouldn’t be on if wasn’t popular.

My DH and I also enjoy it still and they have some great presenters/experts/auctioneers.

It’s all about the golden gavel, not necessarily huge profits and it’s good free advertising for the stallholders, many of whom are far from poor.

I don’t mind the bidding room, but it can be a bit boring.

What I like about BH is that they move around the country.

I only turn it on for the auction at the end while I am waiting for the lunchtime News.

A lot of it must be edited out so maybe the stall holders are reimbursed the difference and we don’t see that.

I’m useless at bargaining. I used to cringe standing next to DH who always drove a hard bargain.

He always said it was because he was from Yorkshire! 😂

My ex used to drive a hard bargain when we bought anything new. I used to go to share in the decision about what we would buy but then leave when he started his bargaining as I was so embarassed. I struggle buying things abroad in places where bargainig is expected. I probably end up paying too much for things because of it!

I have to admit, I rather enjoy it. I used to watch it in the waiting room when I was having radiotherapy and it used to settle me down before I went in for my treatment.

The “ sensible” contestants are usually older and maybe less dynamic, so we have to put up with silly giggling people who just want to be on tv and have no real interest in the items.

I also get annoyed with experts who encourage contestants to buy things they like, rather than items which will make a profit.

I stopped watching, it has turned into a screechy shouty programme. Also bargain hunters who have no empathy for the sellers. Horrible programme

It has lots of screechy, shouty fans who post lots of screechy shouty comments about it, so I guess that's why it it still on.

I very rarely watch it, only the end if I happened to turn on the TV for news.

It is all rather ridiculous now, contestants getting excited because they've made £5, most times they make losses.

Yes, auction it off to the highest bidder.

I too have heard that the sellers are reimbursed for accepting a lower offer which would make a mockery of the whole thing and is somewhat dishonest.

I agree time this programme was scrapped. So many other programmes have been taken off air yet this boring one is on seven days a week.
