Where the Crawdads Sing on NETFLIX

I'm invariably disappointed by films if I've read the book first, so I might give this a miss. I can think of very few films which have lived up to the books I've read.

It took me several attempts to read The Time Travellers Wife. It was the same with Gormenghast. After several attempts it was as if a door had opened to let me through. I remember reading about the man who adapted TTTW. He said you have to eliminate 90% of a book and just keep the 10% that is relevant. Also, with that particular book you have to suspend disbelief ie how can he just appear at different times stark naked!

I thought the book was much better than the film.

I struggled with The Time Travellers Wife book and only by watching the film did it make sense to me.

I wasn’t expecting that ending to be honest. It does rather make me want to read the book but, if I buy it it will probably end up on the ever increasing pile of ‘books to be read’. I think one of the few film adaptations that I liked was The Time Travellers Wife, an incredibly difficult film to adapt. I’ve never got over my disappointment at seeing Captain Corellis Mandolin at the cinema, after they said they would be faithful to the book, but can probably, years later and more dispassionately, watch it on dvd without feeling quite so angry.

I found the book rather disappointing compared with the book. I didn't feel it went into enough detail about her life as a child. But it's a very good film compared with most of the stuff we see.

I’m halfway through the film.Finding it very beautiful but sad. And think it’s going to get even sadder!

I loved the film a few years back however my friend who I went with couldn’t stand it and we normally like the same thing

I don’t often manage to sit through a film but I watched this when I was home alone staying at my DD2’s in the US and I absolutely loved it.

I’ve struggled to get into the book but that’s because I lack concentration these days. I must persevere!

I loved this book and saw the film too. I enjoyed both but don't know why the film needed to change the ending.

This is one of my favourite films and well worth watching .

I enjoyed the Netflix film very much but haven't read the book. I would like to now though, to compare.

I enjoyed the film, and unusually preferred it to the book.

I haven’t read the book so had no idea what to expect, I really enjoyed it, thought the acting and scenery were both great.

I loved the book but felt the film did not do it justice.

I haven't read the book and don't get Netflix. I did see the film though and can't say it left much of an impression on me, it was ok.

Daisy Edgar Jones was excellent indeed , but I'm afraid I found the film very drawn out and dull.I remember wondering if it was morning when it came to an end.
The book I could take or leave. Oh dear.!

The book was a good read, but it won’t go down as an all time classic.

I will give the film a go.

Yes, I agree, she was perfect for the role.

I watched it some time ago. It was a bit of a letdown for me as l love the book so much.

The book is one of my all time favourites.
