In fact not only did I not recognise Michael Keaton, when I first saw the trailer I thought it was Robert Glenister.

There is a very similar series on Netflix called Painkiller. It stars Matthew Broderick as Richard Sackler.

I have read a couple of random comparison reviews which seem to prefer Dopesick as it is more focused on the Sackler family.

I thought Painkiller was very good. I haven't seen Dopesick.

The story is shocking.

Watched it all, loved it and was horrified by it. Never realised that was Michael Keaton.

It certainly is a very hard hitting series, the Sackler family and their pursuit of money above all else, and the human cost sacrificed at the altar of their greed, just appalling, in light of our own scandals, it definitely resonates. How do these people sleep at night?

Yes Michael Keaton is such a good actor, and the young actress is Kaitlyn Dever, I knew I'd seen her before she was in a Netflix series "Unbelievable" again she was so very good in that.

It is a hard hitting series, the level of sheer lack of humanity is staggering all for profits, something we are seeing more and more these days.

We are deeply into this series and juts have the last episode to go. Its riveting and deeply worrying. Michael Keaton is amazing as is a young actress playing a lead part. I wont say more except its more than worth a watch.

I saw this programme which BBC bought from Disney, got a mention on the thread about recommended series. It's such an overwhelming subject in its miscarriage of justice, it will as one poster commented on that thread, "leave the viewer reeling"

In a nutshell it's about The Purdue Pharmaceutical Company owned by the Sackler family who introduced the opioid painkiller, OxyContin, very much with the emphasis that it would be completely non addictive. Trialled in poor mining areas such as West Virginia where injuries from the nature of dangerous work in mining, patients were encouraged to use this new miracle drug. What followed was a wave of addiction to opium derived drugs in rural America, which brought devastation, misery and death in the tens of thousands. Anyone who has read the excellent book Demon Copperhead will be familiar with the nature of the content in Dopesick.

8 episodes, a very good cast including Michael Keaton well worth watching.
