The old one is getting full, so here’s a nice shiny new one.

Where is Lauren? What is Dee Dee’s chap up to? Is Kit a villainous baddie or a force for good? Do we care?

Post your predictions and observations here (no spoilers please).

^I wish they'd cut all the serial killer stories and stick with more credible domestic ones, bringing back the comedy they used to be so good at.

Definitely agree with that.

There are adverts on ITVX. You have to pay extra for ad free viewing. That's coming in on all sorts of i-players/streaming services.

Doodledog Tue 20-Aug-24 17:16:18

Now that many people watch on ITVX (ie without the ads), do you think that will still drive them?

TBH I'd rather they cut the length and went back to three half hours a week. There is too much time to fill now, so they clutch at straws a bit for storylines. I think that happened to Brookside back in the day, too.

Aveline Tue 20-Aug-24 16:52:11

My phone inserted that apostrophe. Am raging!

Aveline Tue 20-Aug-24 16:51:30

I'm not too worried. It's an institution. It's also a commercial undertaking. If they weren't drawing in the audiences in sufficient numbers to satisfy the advertiser's they wouldn't be going out as often or for such long episodes as they do. Follow the money. Cynical?Moi?

Doodledog Tue 20-Aug-24 15:55:12

I'd like to think it will go on forever, but the audience is declining, and I don't think it's anywhere near as good as it used to be. They seem to write scripts based on budgets rather than entertainment value, and the new contracts for the actors make continuity difficult. I wish they'd cut all the serial killer stories and stick with more credible domestic ones, bringing back the comedy they used to be so good at.

I do watch it, and will probably stick with it to the bitter end, as I did with Brookside, but unless there is a rethink at the top I fear for the future of the cobbles.

🤞

Doodledog Tue 20-Aug-24 14:10:18

Tracy could morph into Blanche, if the show survives long enough grin.

Aveline Tue 20-Aug-24 11:06:54

I loved that too Ilovecheese. Classic Tracy.

Ilovecheese Tue 20-Aug-24 10:16:25

Tracy was on good form "everyone I know is here" " I don't like most of them but they're here"

Calendargirl Tue 20-Aug-24 06:34:35

I thought that silly scarf thing in Daisy’s hair made her look odd from the front. It made her look like Anne Boleyn.

They made a point of how tall Kit is, or is it that Daisy is short?

Lovetopaint037 Tue 20-Aug-24 02:18:39

Yes and now the abortion pills have been revealed. Good for DeeDee.

Curlywhirly Mon 19-Aug-24 23:52:18

I think Swain will be joining all the dots where Joel is concerned - her daughter has already spilled the beans that he's been texting her. Don't think it will be long before the penny drops.

Beechnut Mon 19-Aug-24 23:25:11

I thought Daisy had a tan.

BlueBelle Mon 19-Aug-24 22:32:22

Deedees acting was very strong tonight and Lauren too, hopefully Swain is onto him
David’s hair is a nightmare I know he had a transplant but I d sue them
Daisy looked different tonight but I couldn’t work out what it was that was changed
I m sorry Stu is leaving I like him, anyone know why ?

Charleygirl5 Mon 19-Aug-24 22:11:56

It is a soap so that could easily be "forgotten". Thank goodness Joel is on the way out. I agree, Roy has bathed and shaved- what a difference.

It was definitely worth watching tonight- more the old Corrie.

Grannynannywanny Mon 19-Aug-24 21:42:54

Lots crammed into that one episode! It was gripping. Does it mean Kit will now be incriminated? If I’ve remembered correctly didn’t he plant DNA in the van to secure a conviction against the ghastly Nathan?

Curlywhirly Mon 19-Aug-24 21:33:46

Really good episode tonight, had me glued to my seat! So satisfying to see Joel squirm and Dee Dee piece together all his lies. Let's hope he doesn't manage to talk his way out of it.

Aveline Mon 19-Aug-24 21:22:58

Well that's more like it Corrie! What an episode. Great drama but also more mundane stuff too. Tracy being Tracy and Tyrone's wee boy stealing the show from 'the girls'! Great stuff.

Doodledog Mon 19-Aug-24 20:51:25

I hope this is the end of Joel.

I'd like Dee Dee to stay in it though, even though Aggie has gone, Ed is never there and Joel seems to be for the high jump.

Mind you, if Kit is the copper on the case, anything could happen - I'm still sure he's a wrong 'un.

Calendargirl Mon 19-Aug-24 20:44:37

Great acting tonight from both Dee Dee and Lauren.

For once, gripping!

Calendargirl Mon 19-Aug-24 20:14:37

Thank goodness, Roy has shaved!!!

Beechnut Sun 18-Aug-24 09:24:57

I’m not saying it didn’t matter when he was lying to her and she didn’t know but now he’s started lying to her questions I’m finding that and him really creepy.

lemsip Sun 18-Aug-24 08:18:22

Just read Sean Wilson was reportedly axed from the show two weeks before the news broke with lawyers becoming involved, as the mystery on the cobbles deepens.
.........

how is joel still getting away with lying to dee dee

vegansrock Sun 18-Aug-24 07:14:14

I’m sure Steve didn’t always behave like a childish idiot. All this “pretending to dislike someone you fancy” is an old ruse. Yawn.
