The old one is getting full, so here’s a nice shiny new one.

Where is Lauren? What is Dee Dee’s chap up to? Is Kit a villainous baddie or a force for good? Do we care?

Post your predictions and observations here (no spoilers please).

Beechnut

How does Paul get his wheelchair up to and down from the flat.

Why did Joel move in with DeeDee when his flat looks nicer?

Why am I asking these daft questions 😂

Well, I suppose when Paul was still going out, they either manhandled the wheelchair up and down the stairlift, or had another one at the bottom.

Perhaps Dee Dee’s home was more local, is Joel’s elsewhere?

Why do they all live with others anyway? Adam, a successful solicitor, (well, plenty of work keeping the neighbours in and out of prison) seemed to be sofa surfing with Dee Dee a while back, after he and Sarah split up.

Toyah lodges with sister and BIL.

Various people at Eileen’s, who seems to be constantly in Thailand and never mentioned.

Not sure who lives at the pub now.

Gail’s house seems full.

And Carla has the nephew with her, or did he move out and someone else got lumbered with him?

And of course, there’s Ty, Fiz, Hope, Ruby, Evelyn, (I think) and the ghastly Cassie.

Plus Ken, Amy, Steve at Ken’s home…

That Joel is a nasty piece of work. Can’t wait to see what happens when DeeDee finds out he is not what she thought.
corrie don’t really do after effects very well. Someone dies and is hardly mentioned again. Someone else is uncovered as a villain and life just carries on.

Doodledog Fri 02-Aug-24 21:06:55

None of them seem to do a lot. Is Lauren's mum in Ireland?

Calendargirl Fri 02-Aug-24 21:00:55

Pleased we were spared a harrowing premature labour scene.

Calendargirl Fri 02-Aug-24 20:29:41

Why is Lauren so keen to move to Ireland?

She doesn’t seem very afraid of Joel now.

When is he ever supposed to be doing any actual work?

I can understand a teenager being a bit (ok a lot!) gormless, but watching a total stranger going into the fridge and complaining about the milk is not remotely likely.

I know I keep saying it, but I wish they'd stick to domestic stories and leave the gangsters and criminals (and dodgy 'Institutes'!) to dramas and film. There's enough to be going on with when you consider love affairs, unplanned babies, generational conflict, infidelity, arguments and feuds, as well as comedy storylines, social issues etc.

Clawdy Tue 30-Jul-24 07:53:19

Yes, the Jack and Stefan storyline was ridiculous. Even for Corrie!

Calendargirl Tue 30-Jul-24 06:20:45

I can understand Jack inviting the chap to come in and wait as he thought it was a future work deal.

But not to offering him tea, letting him rummage about in kitchen cupboards then popping out for milk. Also who would be so rude to say the milk was off?!!

Surely most teenagers would just send Dad a text saying someone was there to see him re work?

But Jack never seems the sharpest knife in the box.

Grannynannywanny Mon 29-Jul-24 21:58:34

I’m glad the assisted suicide story seems to be off the cards.

What was all that nonsense with Jack inviting a total stranger into the house? Then offering to make him tea and popping out for fresh milk and leaving him alone in the house. I was thinking it was some kind of far fetched trap to trick Stefan and Jack was in on it . But no, Jack really was that silly.

In many episodes featuring this story line I've felt the acting was OTT and some of the events made me cringe, but Friday's episode was very moving and well-acted.

lemsip Mon 29-Jul-24 06:39:21

so depressing couldn't continue watching!

Calendargirl Mon 29-Jul-24 06:28:55

I still don’t think it will be assisted suicide, I wonder if Paul might get pneumonia (the old man’s friend) and die of natural causes?

JenniferEccles Mon 29-Jul-24 00:37:05

I too hope it doesn’t drag on, but I’ve a feeling Billy won’t have a hand in the end when it does come.
I could be wrong of course and that would enable the writers to raise the profile of assisted suicide, exploring perhaps if it should be de-criminalised.

Charleygirl5 Sun 28-Jul-24 23:26:13

I still think, mainly because the last episode was so good, well written and acted, it should have ended that night.

I hope it is not spoiled by being dragged on.

JenniferEccles Sun 28-Jul-24 22:59:13

I remember reading that the actor who plays Paul did a lot of research on MND, speaking to people in the society as well as sufferers themselves to enable him to portray the terrible disease in as authentic a way as possible.

Calendargirl Sat 27-Jul-24 19:48:30

Just watched this as I struggled through the Olympics Opening Ceremony last night instead of Corrie.

I thought it was brilliantly acted, am sure both Paul and Billy will win awards eventually. It has done so much to highlight MND.

Corrie is so often poor nowadays, but episodes such as this one and when Sinead died make you realise how good it still can be.

BlueBelle Sat 27-Jul-24 07:53:49

I thought Todd acted very well too
It was well handled, and sad but maybe a bit long drawn out for me I thought it was well done but didn’t have me in floods of tears as I expected perhaps because I knew it was coming and had read a lot of bits about it I did feel moved a couple of times But it was written well and acted very well but I think it should have ended there is there going to be weeks of this I don’t want it to go into overkill

Aveline Sat 27-Jul-24 07:43:17

I don't know though. I thought it was a bit of a damp squib. I kept thinking, ' Is this it?' then it wasn't.

Doodledog Fri 26-Jul-24 23:35:55

It was heartbreaking.

JenniferEccles Fri 26-Jul-24 22:54:11

Such a moving performance, wasn’t it?
Superb acting from Billy and Paul.

nanaK54 Fri 26-Jul-24 21:19:01

Oh my word, what an episode that was sad

Clawdy Thu 25-Jul-24 12:38:09

At least Kit is being honest, telling Bernie he doesn't like her. He seems to like having a new sister and brother, but not the new mum! And I don't blame him. Particularly after she didn't turn up to the meeting when he was younger, that was unforgivable.

Calendargirl Thu 25-Jul-24 12:20:50

maddyone

Well I wouldn’t want Bernie as a replacement mum either, but I don’t think he has to be so nasty to her.
Where was the lovely house Kit was living in when Bernie first found him?

Expect that was his adoptive parents home?
