The old one is getting full, so here’s a nice shiny new one.

Where is Lauren? What is Dee Dee’s chap up to? Is Kit a villainous baddie or a force for good? Do we care?

Post your predictions and observations here (no spoilers please).

I’m hoping we’re not going to have Toyah getting into the Institute now. Nor Amy, but I’m thinking Amy’s already drawn in. Where would Amy get the £400 from to join the Institute?
Maybe Leanne will get the whole street to join!

Clawdy Mon 08-Jul-24 22:46:21

It was definitely Lauren. Roy was still unconscious and unaware she was there. And Joel saw her passing through the door, he looked very uneasy.

Doodledog Mon 08-Jul-24 22:33:18

I've just caught up. I think it was Lauren, as Sarah and Bethany saw her on the video.

Maggiemaybe Mon 08-Jul-24 22:23:01

Well I haven’t seen this episode yet, but must admit I’d forgotten all about Lauren. I think most of the Corrie residents have as well!

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jul-24 22:21:56

She was wearing the same coat as the girl on Bethany’s laptop so I’m assuming it is really Lauren.

LovesBach Mon 08-Jul-24 22:10:33

But was that truly Lauren - or is Roy hallucinating?

vegansrock Mon 08-Jul-24 21:07:08

Bit of a dramatic ending tonight!

Doodledog

Ah yes. The penny’s just dropped grin

I thought you were being appreciative of my excellent summary of the Mallet family with a rather strange phrase.

😂

Oh, I answered on my phone, and somehow missed that Calendargirl had already said it all grin. I think we cross-posted though.

Maggiemaybe Mon 08-Jul-24 16:17:47

I thought my feeble memory had forsaken me altogether then, as the only thing I remembered about Judy Mallet was that she died suddenly while she was hanging her washing out. She did (I had to google), but it was an embolism caused by the car accident that did for her.

Cut and shut Doodledog.

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jul-24 13:19:00

Good info Calendargirl. I remember now.
Sorry about Mellors, meant Mallets. You can see where my mind drifts off to!

Doodledog Mon 08-Jul-24 13:17:23

Judy was played by Kay Mellor’s daughter.

Doodledog Mon 08-Jul-24 13:16:49

Gary and Judy. He was a labourer and she got pregnant with twins, and was killed by Vera and Jack’s ‘are Turreh’, who had spliced together cars (can’t remember the name for that). Gary left as he missed his wife.

Calendargirl Mon 08-Jul-24 13:16:36

X posts LauraNorder.

Calendargirl Mon 08-Jul-24 13:15:54

The Mallets were Gary and Judy Mallett.

They had problems conceiving, but went on to have twins.

I think Judy died suddenly, and Gary moved away.

Were they going to adopt Joanne Froggatt’s baby at one stage, before they had their own children? She played the part of a homeless girl, friends with Ashley Peacock I think?

In real life, Judy was Gaynor Faye, daughter of Kay Mellor, who wrote many plays and series.

( I haven’t looked any of this up, hope my memory is correct!)

LauraNorderr Mon 08-Jul-24 13:15:22

Now that name rings a bell BlueBelle, was the actress who played Mrs Mallet the daughter of a famous screenwriter, I can picture her but can’t get her name.
Just come to me Gaynor Faye, daughter of Kay Mellor. That’s all I’ve got though. Can’t remember anything about the Mellors.

BlueBelle Mon 08-Jul-24 13:02:48

Who were ‘the mallets’ I can’t remember that name ?

Clawdy Mon 08-Jul-24 12:58:53

Even with all the problems it would bring, I was really hoping Toyah was pregnant.

Doodledog Mon 08-Jul-24 11:29:03

The Institute is a daft story. I'm not sure what it's meant to represent either.

I fear for Roy. I keep thinking they are going to write him out, and I really don't want that. He does look a mess though. I note that Alex was mentioned. I wonder if Cathy might come back and sort him out? That could be interesting now that Evelyn's on the case.

Calendargirl Mon 08-Jul-24 07:10:47

I hope Roy has a shave now he’s back in the cafe.

His greying beard looks awful, not a good look for serving food.

Standards, Roy!

maddyone Sat 06-Jul-24 10:56:30

You were right Doodledog, the blood test didn’t show a pregnancy, it mimicked pregnancy. Poor Torah, she has such a lot of bad luck.
I’m fed up of the ridiculous Institute story now. Leanne would have been there for her sister.

Cabowich Sat 06-Jul-24 09:08:23

Cabowich

Something crossed my mind last night when I read that Toyah has another shocking diagnosis. I thought it was an ectopic pregnancy but what if it's twins....... grin

How wrong was my hunch? So not two little ToyNics, but a nasty tumour instead. Poor Toyah - I hope it's benign.

Maggiemaybe Sat 06-Jul-24 08:14:01

I don’t feel it’s twins for Toyah as we have Gemini and Apollo 🤣, we had the Mallett twins years ago and we have the quads so I think that's enough multiple births.

We’ve had the Macdonald twins and the Alahans as well.
