Surely that means posting forthcoming events that have yet to be shown, but are being talked about in the media?

Once a programme has been televised in ‘real time’, there is no reason not to talk about it, otherwise how can you discuss the latest eviction from ‘Strictly’ say, or ‘Sewing Bee’?

Anyhow, to recap last night. Griff tried to force Roy to commit suicide, but failed. DC Kit planted some of Lauren’s hair in Nathan’s van, so he has now been charged with her murder. Roy has been freed. And it has shown Dee Dee’s boyfriend to be the one attacking Lauren. And Hope handed him the necklace which she found when washing his car.

Think that’s the gist of it.

All very far fetched.

Thanks so much. A lot happened in half an hour then! Will make sure I watch it tonight.

I am speculating that there are three main scenarios for Joel and Kit:
1. They are both baddies, part of a grooming gang, and taking the heat off themselves by framing Nathan. Joel has cosied up to Dee Dee and Kit to Sarah. Didn't Joel come on the scene during Ed"s money troubles? Something to do with insider information?
2. They are both undercover to crack the gang.
3. They are both just an ordinary copper and solicitor and I am reading too much into it.
Joel struck me as frightened by what had happened rather than triumphant. Perhaps he isn't the killer but was sent to get the necklace or took it on impulse when he realised Lauren had been attacked.
I seem to remember someone pushing past either Bobbie or Roy at the flat so perhaps Bobby's statement isn't that false.
Still convinced Max knows something.
Help! I'm getting too involved with it all.

I like Dee Dee but cannot stand Ed and is it Aggie? I did not realise she had left permanently. Was there insufficient space on the bus for the remainder of the family and maybe a few more? I am not a fan of the son either.

Are we the only fans?

Calendargirl Fri 31-May-24 16:06:57

David mentioned Gail the other night.

Wasn’t she attending a life art class?

He made some comment about hoping Gail wasn’t the model!😂

Thank goodness for David, his throwaway one liners are like light at the end of a long, long soap tunnel…

I used to watch 'Coronation Street' with my maternal Grandmother (a Lancashire Lass) when I was a child. I used to tease her that she resembled Ena Sharples, without a hairnet.

When looking through some photos the other day, I came across one with our youngest daughter and our adopted son who has Down's Syndrome standing outside the 'Rovers Return Inn'. Our daughter's first job after university was working for ITV.

Doodledog Fri 31-May-24 15:59:28

If Lauren's not dead she must be very sore after that beating!

I can only think that the motive is something to do with Nathan, or possibly the Far Right lot that Griff heads up.

As for Gail, I don't know where she's gone, but I hope she stays there.

I missed last night’s Corrie. What happened please?

It’s a shame you missed it, Primrose. Far-fetched it may have been, but at least something happened other than gormless Bethany and dopey Sarah stropping around the place yapping at the police like Yorkshire terriers on speed. Good grief, they’re irritating.

Talking of irritating, where’s Gail gone?

JaneJudge Fri 31-May-24 14:41:14

surely they have checked the bin by now?

mind you that happened to someone near here, body was in a bin for months sad

I'm glad the nasty man didn't kill Roy

Calendargirl Fri 31-May-24 14:33:08

JaneJudge

What motive does the lawyer have to murder Lauren? and how did he manage to remove her body from the flat when it’s in a built up area? And why didn’t he clean the flat properly? He’s a lawyer fgs

But we don’t know there is a body, do we?

Yes, we saw him attacking Lauren with the chair, but did he kill her? Perhaps she is locked up somewhere, injured?

(This is only me guessing, I don’t know and frankly, I’m not bothered if Lauren never appears again, I know that makes me sound nasty).

Along with Cassie, Bobby, Griff…. Would have added Aggie, , but thankfully she has disappeared permanently.

Anyway, assuming she is dead, he could just have tipped her into a bin or something, isn’t that what Stephen did?

I thinks it's been better lately until this irritating week.

I’m invested because we switch the tv on …… but it’s driving me crazy and I really wish I wasn’t continuing . I have mostly watched corrie since childhood so sort of feel it’s part of what goes on in our house. This has to be the worst it has ever been, barely hanging on.

The crime rate for Coronation Street must be through the roof grin. No wonder they need designated coppers.

I agree that we need more one-liners. The comedy has gone these days. When there is an attempt at humour it seems always to be centred on Sally and Tim’s sex life. Evelyn should have more storylines (preferably not featuring Cassie).

Haha, I’ve often thought that. There are more ex cons living in/around Coronation Street that I’ve had hot dinners!

The comedy in Corrie used to be so good. Bet Lynch, AnnieWalker, Elsie Tanner, Rita and Mavis, even Tracy Barlow, and many others. I do like David’s dour humour though.

maddyone Fri 31-May-24 13:35:22

Good. Thanks for opening the new thread Doodledog.

Doodledog Fri 31-May-24 13:24:15

I agree, Calendargirl, not that I am dictating terms - it was just a request so that people (me grin) don't find out about forthcoming events before they are screened. The whole point of the thread is to discuss what has gone out.

I'm pleased someone else got to summarise yesterday's episode - it was jumbled and I'm not sure I could have been so succinct!

The OP asks for no spoilers. Could you get last night's episode on catch-up?

Charleygirl5 Fri 31-May-24 10:16:19

Cassie should leave with Simon on Monday- I cannot stand the sight of her.

New scriptwriters are needed. Life at times can be miserable enough without switching on a TV to see more.

I assume that Rita is slowly weaning herself away from Coronation Street. She I imagine will be salaried but newish people like Cassie will be paid by appearance.

Sarah will be in bed with Kit by the middle of next week. If he has/had a connection with Lauren, it must be a tad tenuous. As said he has appeared as a copper and although a PC acts like a sergeant or a rank above.

At least Roy is out and with luck that will be his only time in prison.

We need one liners not more sex and murders.

Calendargirl Fri 31-May-24 07:29:30

Corrie seems to like having storylines with drawn-out murderers evading capture.

Thinking of 1)John Stape, 2) one of Carla’s exes, a boss at Underworld, 3) Pat Phelan, 4) Audrey’s son, Stephen, 5) Richard Hillman…there must be many more….

Sarnia Fri 31-May-24 07:23:24

No names but I was right about Lauren's boyfriend. Kit is clearly a bent copper but why? I wouldn't be surprised to see stupid Sarah make a move on him. I think Roy is changed by his time in prison but this storyline is far from over. With another innocent person charged with Lauren's murder it is set to run and run and drive us all mad. On the bright side Simon is on the verge of departure to go and work with his Dad on a boat. Hope it's a long cruise.

Calendargirl Fri 31-May-24 07:16:10

Oh, I was expecting the last one to get to 1000.

This is a bit like opening your presents on Christmas Eve!

Doodledog Fri 31-May-24 07:13:08

The old one is getting full, so here’s a nice shiny new one.

Where is Lauren? What is Dee Dee’s chap up to? Is Kit a villainous baddie or a force for good? Do we care?

Post your predictions and observations here (no spoilers please).
