I havent watched it but have heard the case on a true crime podcast, it was horrific.

The wife survived because she landed on a newly ploughed field and she was very slight.
A heavier build, or a landing on tarmac, and the body bag that was brought to the scene would have been needed.

Her parachute didn’t open and neither did the reserve. All the signs were there that he is a wrong-un.
Only a week before he told her to light the gas when she told him there was a smell of gas. Wake up woman.
Why did she never visit his room at the barracks where a photo of his girlfriend was displayed?
You’re married to someone who obviously spends a lot of time somewhere else and you’ve never visited.
She kept the blinkers on to keep him.

What a brilliantly-made series, with all the shots of the filming techniques and the police interviews. To understand more about Victoria's mindset and marriage experience it's worth reading her book 'I Survived'. It's available on Borrowbox as an audio book.

I watched the first episode yesterday. Really well done.

Oh I didn't know they varied from place to place.

I was interested to find that her first marriage had ended, also because of her husband's infidelity.

I pondered again how some people, men and women, will keep being attracted to the same type of person, even though it always ends in tears. We have seen this happen to friends.

We attended all three weddings of one friend. he then started just living together, when it became acceptable, he moved away and we lost touch, all the women very similar - and unsuitable.

The thing with a man choosing the wrong woman is that they tend not to face the same risks as a woman choosing the wrong man. I think the issue is men like this man target those who may be vulnerable, younger, often with difficult pasts etc.

I think men like this have an unerring eye in recognising the lack of personal confidence that can lie behind some outwardly confident women, and know exactly how to manipulate them.

It was a brilliant and frightening example of how insidious coercive control can be.
