Just seen a clip of him at a pride event where he wishes Kemi Badenoch would shut up and disappear. Then he says we should all be kind to everyone. Except women perhaps??

I am not a banner more of an avoider.

The only Parade in London we took our children to and now our AC take our GC along to is The Lord Mayors Show .

The local Carnival Parades are good also.

Let children be children, unless you lead them into the children’s area blindfolded they are going to be aware of the seedier side of Pride.

You're just being silly now VioletSky or are you just a wind up merchant.

VioletSky Mon 01-Jul-24 13:01:33

I'm quoting

Have you been to Pride? It's quite a big thing, lots of different things going on

Have you thought about whether the parents are capable? Or is anyone who takes their child to Pride a bad parent in some way?

Even if they don't directly go to pride, people with children may pass it... Should Pride be banned?

Ok noted, I still feel uncomfortable anyone would use their "gay friends" to make a point but I guess that is just me

back to discussion then:

*What is wrong with children being at Pride?*

Nudity

Sexual/Fetish Clothing

Posters/Banners with questionable slogans

That’s just off the top of my head

Why put gay friends in quotation marks? When that's done it's usually because the poster is being disdainful of the phrase or words being used by the person they are responding to.

If you've got gay friends, it's the same as having friends, or brothers or sisters, which are not usually qualified with quotation marks.

GrannyGravy13 has gay friends who've chatted and they've told her what they think - so why shouldn't she make a point about what they said?

Yes, it is just you.

VioletSky this thread is not about you, and you should not dictate what other members post.

We are having an open discussion.

We are sharing lived experiences of ourselves, friends and family.

VioletSky you do not know me or my friends, how dare you tell me what I can post!!!

I didn't but I don't think it is right to speak for others in an effort to prove a point...

I could claim to speak for everyone at Pride but I don't

Smileless2012 Mon 01-Jul-24 11:37:41

Yes, it's a shame Dickens.

I’m sure this VS is the same person who accused other posters of policing her posts.

Her comments are not worth getting upset about. 💐

Totally agree, as do our gay friends (male and female)

Pride has been hijacked, miles away from its original concept.

Pride has been hijacked, miles away from its original concept.

... to the extent that now some gay people no longer feel welcome - or even safe - at this event, because it is increasingly dominated by TRAs. Both here and in the USA.

^I'm here, I'm queer lol^
Well I think we have all realised that, you've told us before.

There is more than one meaning to the word of course. Take your pick.

That’s queer VS
I’m sure you told us you were bi.

Callistemon213 Mon 01-Jul-24 10:41:24

The gsy people I know (including friends and our neighbours and our children's friends) are just ordinary people living ordinary lives like the rest of us.
I can't imagine any of them parading around half naked or in fairy wings 😂
They're just ordinary blokes who wear ordinary clothes same as most men.

I presume some women I've known over the years have been lesbians but just lived similar lives to the rest of us. Only one woman ever made advances to me, my one time boss when I was young (and newly married) but she realised I wasn't interested.

Smileless2012 Mon 01-Jul-24 10:24:33

Why shouldn't GrannyGravy speak for her gay friends VS? You appear to speak for all trans or is it because you simply don't like to see anything from someone who doesn't agree with you?

Being gay is sexualised? How?

Don't twist what I said.

Does that mean we should ban children from weddings because it is a celebration of love and relationships?

The whole meaning f Pride marches and Pride week seems to have passed you by, Violetsky.

No-one says it is a bad thing, just not suitable for young children.

Comparing it to eg Remembrance Sunsay or a Coronation is just ridiculous.
