Coming soon apparently. A series (eat your hearts out Kardashians 🤣)! I like JRM, good egg, makes me smile, great presenter and old school politician which l love. Good luck with the show Jacob sure it will be a hoot.

He’s charming and polite so it’ll be like KUWTK but with Earl Grey tea ☕️ I imagine.
It’s going to be on the Discovery. Handel.
320 on Freeview I believe.
I’ll be watching when it’s released. 😁

If it's on Discovery then I can't see it. I've got the channel listed on 320 but it seems you have to pay for it.

I really like him and his dry sense of humour. Especially his slots on GB news…🤓

merlotgran Sat 13-Jul-24 10:30:05

He isn’t the first toff to do a fly on the wall show.

Remember the F***ing Fulfords? 😂

"Birmingham MP Jess Phillips (Lab Yardley) is known for her plain-speaking."

"So Channel 4 News sent her to wealthy North East Somerset, which once had a Labour MP but is now represented by old Etonian Jacob Rees-Mogg, to try to work out how Labour could win more support from middle class voters"

It's not that he's posh, he gives the impression he regards anyone who isn't posh or doesn't have old-fashioned middle class values as thick. I will have a go at watching this though as I hate reality shows too but this one isn't going to be typical.

Callistemon213 Sat 13-Jul-24 10:20:21

It is inverted snobbery to condemn him for 'speaking posh' yet defend Angela Rayner when she uses common or coarse language.

Jaxjacky Sat 13-Jul-24 10:13:07

It would be like watching an endangered species.

Chestnut Sat 13-Jul-24 10:04:56

I agree that insulting Moggie for being posh is just as bad as insulting Rayner for being common. So all those who got angry about that better keep away from their keyboards or be seen as total hypocrites.

BlueBelle Sat 13-Jul-24 09:36:10

Blimey charming is not a word I would describe this person with you’ll say farage is good looking next 🤣🤣🤣
He speaks like the toff he is and falls asleep with his legs up on the seats in a very ungentlemanly way , whilst being paid to work Arrogant
So now making his money like many others out of TV personality programmes 🤮 a waste of space

Interesting watch. He never fails to turn up to village fetes and is always very polite. He is also very intelligent. Unfortunately his accent makes him seem very poncy. Maybe he will appear differently.

What is wrong with the English accent, nothing, he speaks clearly, articulately, he speaks English, no innit, dunnit, for Jacob.
As for poncy, what an awful insult, as bad as saying Rayner is common because of the way she speaks.

Lovely to know that Moggy won't have to go down the local JokeCentrePlus and go through endless hoops at a Universal Credit interview now he's lost his "job" in the Commons......

Like many of the MPs who lost their seats. Why pick on him.
Going to the job centre, oh dear, Universal credit, shame employers don't pay decent wages so people don't have to have the State propping up their wages. Still once Labour bans zero hours, which suits some people, gives them money, that'll be more folks at the job centre.

It has always been clear that he is a man with a sense of humour and he has deliberately developed the posh toff persona because it serves him well. It will be interesting to see if this series will show the person behind the facade.

So what if he is rich maebell. The money isn't inherited. He has earned it for himself. He is/was/is a successful financier.

I look forward to watching. He would make an excellent PM. Educated, knowledgeable and always calm. A very sad loss all round.

Vintagewhine Sat 13-Jul-24 08:11:56

Why on earth does anyone inflict this sort of intrusion on their family? By all means parade yourself on TV and take the consequences but please leave your children out of it. No I won't watch it but no doubt they'll be lots of comments about it in the media.

I'm not a fan of Mogg and hate reality shows but if given the choice of watching him or sport then he would win.

Luckygirl3 Fri 12-Jul-24 20:26:39

Unfailingly polite while crushing the plebs.

keepingquiet Fri 12-Jul-24 20:08:08

This thread makes me despair...

LOUISA1523 Fri 12-Jul-24 20:04:11

I can't bear him 🤮

pascal30 Fri 12-Jul-24 18:19:44

I would find this series rivetting.. he's so eccentric.... but unfortunately I don't have that channel..

I will watch it. I like him and his family seem delightful, loads of boys and just one girl. He manages not to let troublemakers and thugs rattle him. I have seen him on several occasions dealing with such people quietly yet firmly and come out on top.

He is very calm and collected and can deal with oafs because he is knowledgeable and totally unflappable. I rather like him.

He doesn't take himself seriously and has a very dry sense of humour. He was hilarious a few years back on Have I Got News For You. 😂

Marthjolly1 Fri 12-Jul-24 17:58:53

Nope, not enthused at all so will give it a miss.

grandMattie Fri 12-Jul-24 17:48:18

Thanks for the reminder, urms. I think JRM is one of the good ‘uns, like Frank Field. Will be interesting.

He would do better to keep his head down and I agree Grandma 70s he should not expose his family to the inevitable backlash !
