For those who enjoy an Australian Crime Drama, I've watched the first episode of this new one, it appears quite promising.

We did finish this series, but in the end found it disappointing. If there's another series, we won't be bothering.

I've started 'Bay of Fires'. It's very different but intriguing. Will stick with it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm really enjoying Bay of Fires.. it's very quirky and I love the black humour..

I meant Bay of Fires?

Sparklefizz

That's interesting Calli because I watched it on iPlayer, but perhaps it's on both??

We have really enjoyed this. I like Andie's relationship being portrayed as just a relationship - rather than emphasis being made of it being a gay relationship

I really dislike her wife.
She's a neglectful mother and very selfish.

Andie's relationship with her step-daughter seems to be improving and becoming much more positive.

I’m enjoying it - lovely scenery and very much better than some other Australian dramas where there are endless dusty toads stretching into the distance and cars pursuing each other! Also the Ghan railway - again rails going for miles over a dry desert - my husband watched it- no idea why- totally boring.

I enjoyed The Ghan railway programmes. We did think of going on The Ghan and had chatted to someone who had just done that journey and loved it.
We probably won't get there now and we've watched it so that will have to be enough!

Have binge watched all 8 episodes. I did enjoy, but there’s a lot of unanswered questions!

High Country is on iPlayer and Bay of Fires is ITVX.

I am plodding through it as I find the acting arduous but I like the scenery.
I just wish something would actually happen as it is a bit slow.

Thank you for the recommendation TerriBull. I live in Australia but had not heard about this programme. I generally prefer British TV programmes, but having now seen the first episode of High Country I'm hooked!

Thisismyname1953 Sun 28-Jul-24 12:33:13

I am currently trying to watch the 3rd episode of The Jetty and I’m really struggling. It’s so slow it’s making me fall asleep and I don’t think I’ll be viewing it till the end .

Aveline Sun 28-Jul-24 12:08:03

Ooh thanks. I'll check out 'Bay of Fires'

Enjoyed this, great scenery, facinating characters and a pretty good plot. Worth binge watching the whole series I think. I have an Aussie friend who had a similar family history to the main character so it was particularly interesting.

I would have said nope..but will give it another try. Bay of Fires was excellent imo if you like quirky.

What channel is that on, please?
I see it was filmed in Strahan and Queenstown, I've been to both places and anything with Marta Dusseldorp is worth watching.

Loved it. Had to watch a couple a night & I don't usually get hooked on things.

The DH and I watched and enjoyed the series and much admired the beautiful landscape.

Tricia1951 Sun 28-Jul-24 11:13:20

Just finished it - thought it dragged rather in the middle and was then concluded too quickly.
