Anyone seen a really interesting documentary on Simone Biles on Netflix? She was in foster care and adopted by her grandparents whom she calls Mum and Dad. She has had several gymnastic moves named after her as she was the first one to do them. I watched her yesterday on the floor section of the gymnastics overall individual competition yesterday and she was amazing and won gold.

So pleased she has won gold, her hard work paid off, an amazing athlete.

Im afraid I am just not into the Olympics. I try but my attentions wavers after about ten minutes. Admire their dedication to a sport they love and it’s lovely to see them happy. There’s just been one or two over the years who stand out.
Their families support them over and above, so well done Simone and her grandparents.

Thank you for the heads-up on this vegansrock.
I’m not a huge fan of gymnastics usually but watched yesterday and completely blown away by her performance.
She must be superhuman.

Thank you for sharing that vegansrock I will look out for it. I wasn’t aware of her early years. Gymnastics is something I love to watch. I am in awe of the moves especially on the long wooden bar. Simone was amazing yesterday and fully deserved her gold medal.

She certainly earned her gold medal

Awesome athlete- so pleased that she was so pleased with what she's achieved. A great role model.

She's amazing. At only 4' 8" she can jump, stretch and bend to perfection. 🏅

She really is amazing. She’s 27 now, so not young for a gymnast either. I love watching her perform.

I have been enjoying watching her, so thanks for the information. It should be worth opting in to Netflix to watch the documentary. I only dip in occasionally so don't join permanently.

She's fantastic. I loved her goat necklace too - how to send a message in style! I hope all those who criticised her in the past are eating their words now.

Her vaults today! So high, so precise.

Watching her now, astounding, such precision. Breathtaking!

I adore Simone, hard working and very talented!

She certainly deserved the gold, the height she gets to for the triple twists incredible. Generally I don't enjoy spectator sport, but I make a few exceptions, gymnastics would be one.

A good example to young girls that despite a hard start in life you can still achieve your dreams. She is mesmerising.

I was watching & hoping for an extraordinary floor performance from her & wasn't disappointed (all-round individual competition). Loved the way the silver medal gymnast was beaming ear-to-ear when Simone finished, she knew the score would beat hers but just looked thrilled to see such a stunning performance.

Another gold today - not that you’d know from the BBC coverage. I had to go on the website to see it - amazing,

She is an amazing humble person and an unbelievable gymnast

Mollygo Sun 04-Aug-24 13:42:08

It’s the work ethic I admire, along with her gymnastics which are exciting to watch.

Not keen on the Olympics except for the horse events and the gymnastics. Cannot believe some of the gymnast's moves. Did see some water polo early on and boy did that look like a dangerous contact sport, was so surprised.

I didn't see the documentary but heard about her return after the 'twisties' she had in Tokyo resulting in her withdrawal.
I made a point of seeing her mat performance and she was so graceful in addie to being technically excellent. Also, she seemed so natural and happy.
