I would like to read contemporary romance novels where age, aging and longevity play an important role. Any suggestions and recommendations?

Clare Pooley - How to age disgracefully.

I love all her books, and this is the latest.

Sue Gee: Reading in Bed
Angela Lambert: Kiss and Kin

The Sue Gee and Angela Lambert are both novels.

Maeve Haran has written about groups of older women. The novels are about friendship and are light-hearted, with a little bit of romance thrown into the mix.

This is not so much a romance, more of a cautionary tale for well-to-do widows.
Falling by Elizabeth Jane Howard.
So stylishly written. I found it most enjoyable.

If you'd like a laugh as well, Maddie Pearse-'The old duck's club' is a great summer read.

Judy Astley pretty much always includes older people in her books. In one of them, she has a woman in her late 70s having sex (and also tea and champagne) with a lovely man at the Ritz. Sex and love don't just pack up and leave when a woman hits 40.

Not exactly contemporary (it’s set in 1928), but certainly reflecting contemporary mores and challenges, Lissa Evan’s Old Baggage is delightful.

Hilary Boyd - wonderful.

I read 'I don't want to join a Book Club' some time ago. It was very funny but expressed the frustration and this woman's journey exploring her life as an older person.

I’ve just read ‘Betty Boo’ by Claudia Pineiro, an Argentinian author. Although it is mainly a murder mystery it also includes late life romance and is very funny in places. Highly recommended.

You might like ‘Away with the Penguins’ by Hazel Prior ……

Some hate them, but Richard Osman’s “Thursday Club” books are mostly about old people.

Mary Wesley and Rosamund Pilcher, although I recently re-read The Shell Seekers 30 years later and found mumma a self-centred poseur who actually did very little.
