I like him.

I've never seen him to be any other than respectful and kind to the people helped on the repair shop and the programme showing his battle with severe dyslexia was very moving. It was very brave of him to open up about the extreme difficulties of this often distressing condition and in no way fake.

In 2 words: he’s false.
Why did I have that feeling when first seeing him on Money for Nothing
I think it had something to do with painting a deck chair then calling himself a furniture restorer.
False as a nine Bob note.

I understand at times he would be helping Judi because of her sight problems, he was just a bit much at times.

When she went to the repair shop her daughter supported her,
second visit he met Judi and walked with her she has very little
sight

I thought he was just helping her to keep steady on her feet.

I do not like Jay Blades and do not watch the Repair Shop as a consequence.

Why don't I like him? - I do not know. Just sone sort of bad vibe. Appalling of me, I know.

I get that same bad vibe Lucky

I haven't seen anything that concerns me re Jay Blades, so I am not jumping to any conclusions. I enjoyed the programme.

I remember that programme he made with the then Prince Charles merlotgran and I thought the same. He just couldn't stop putting his hand on the prince's arm and back, it became very unsettling to watch. He's just too touchy feely for my liking

My daughter is a PR director for the brewery that owns the Dirty Duck (Black Swan) in Stratford on Avon and worked with the production company before and on the day of filming.
It was very interesting to hear all that happened behind the scenes, it was almost all day filming for a 5 minute piece.
My daughter was heavily pregnant at the time and Judi was very concerned for her, she kept telling her to stop running round and sit down and rest. My daughter fell in love with her!

We watched it and enjoyed the programme. I agree with the OP, to me he seems a genuine, caring kind of guy. Dame Judy was of course delightful as ever.

Pleased it wasn't just me being judgmental!!

Not a fan of his although many adore him. Something creepy about him.

I watched it, sort of enjoyed it , I like Judi Dench not so sure about Jai , he was very tactile with her, I dont know why I felt uncomfortable watching it.

I didn’t watch it but I felt the same during the programme about Dumfries House with Prince Charles (as he was then.)

Jay Blades was over familiar and far too touchy feely for my liking. Cheeky chappies always make me uneasy.

I feel the same. I thought so from first watching him on Money for Nothing years ago.

Gingster Mon 19-Aug-24 08:32:44

His wife left him under strange circumstances not long ago.

Did anyone watch this last night, it was very good ,each one showing the other where they lived when they were young,
They both got on so well , Dame Judy selling bananas down the market in Camden. Jay Blades reading Shakespeare out loud to Dame Judy was brilliant considering he couldn’t read a couple of years ago. He comes across as a very caring genuine man.
