I agree. I was completely enthralled by this series, although I gasped at the brutality in some scenes. I rationalised it by saying that's what life was like, it was very brutal during the Viking raids and occupation of Britain.
The acting was superb. Dreymon was born in Germany and has lived in Switzerland, France and the USA, and his accent reflects those influences.
I think everything about the production is first rate. Not sure I could watch it again because of the brutality. I did however watch Bolivar twice - 60 episodes - also brutal in parts, but apparently historically accurate. Superb acting, costumes and settings. I learned so much more of the history of the Spanish occupation of South America the second time which I'd missed in my first viewing.
I was confused in a scene in The Lost Kingdom where they were supposed to be in Cornwall with mountains in the background. Those scenes were filmed in Hungary. Imagine the logistics of getting a film crew, actors and all the paraphernalia to Cornwall through the usual traffic especially in the holiday season, or most seasons!
