I watched the first episode of this on Sunday and the second last night. I really wanted to know what happened next so I sat down with a coffee this morning, allegedly just to watch the beginning of episode 3.

I then watched the whole of episode 3. Then 4. Then I made a sandwich and watched 5 and 6. It's been a long time since I've done something like that. (Yes, I've got loads of other things I probably should have been doing!)

I'm not going to give anything away but I wondered if anyone else has watched it all yet?

I really didn’t enjoy it. The acting, apart from Kidman and Fanning was dire, especially the father and sons.
Kept hoping it would improve.
Plot was threadbare. So many loose ends and the ending…… tying the penguin wedding speech to the penguin enclosure at London Zoo etc.

It was enjoyable rubbish! I kept watching to see if it got any better. Unfortunately, it didn't!

Cateq Sun 15-Sept-24 11:38:13

We watched it too over a couple of days as we had visitors in between. I foolishly google it to see if there was anything else the actors had been in which might be worth watching only to read who the murderer was, won’t be doing that again.

We enjoyed it but it wasn't quite as brilliant as I was led to believe. We binge watched it as we usually do with series nowadays. The only one we can't wait to watch all at once is Slow Horses. I just love that programme, Gary Oldman is just a joy to watch.

Loved it, especially Liev Schreiber as Tag. My DH really enjoyed it too!

We watched it too. Thought it might be silly but if you out silly aside, it was good to see it through. Personally I don’t find NK beautiful, she’s so false and wooden, completely soulless for me

leeds22 Sun 15-Sept-24 13:02:18

Enjoyable tosh in an amazing setting. Watched 2 episodes per night. DH didn't join me!

Lahlah65 Sun 15-Sept-24 13:29:39

Twists and turns kept me watching, but not a patch on White Lotus. And I just don’t get NK.

Lemontart Sun 15-Sept-24 13:30:41

I did the same @ ferry23
I have been ill with a chest infection so have been bingeing a lot of drama series. I really enjoyed it.

Step4gran Sun 15-Sept-24 13:47:40

I have just started watching this

crazygranmda Sun 15-Sept-24 16:58:08

We watched 15 minutes and then decided life was too short smile Each to their own I guess. On the other hand, KAOS was superb!

SallyatBaytree Sun 15-Sept-24 17:07:55

I saw on here a post about bingewatching TV. I did exactly that for Funny Woman series 2, which came out on 6th September . Now TV channel ( Sky) ..I had to join for a month but cancelled before subs due again!
If you like 60s social history. a time of striving for equality for women [ pay/ jobs / Equality in all sectors of life etc]
And fabulous outfits similar to mine at that time ....think Mary Quant .the Kings Road and the Beatles!!

Grandmafrench Sun 15-Sept-24 17:37:15

We decided to watch on account of hearing it described as "watchable tosh" - was that the phrase? And Nantucket - well who wouldn't enjoy that setting - as long as all sound was muted!

But for me, it was truly awful and, worse, because having already wasted the time, we really needed to find out who-dun-it. Thankfully it was only 6 episodes.

The writing was dire, almost no plot, no connection between a bunch of unpleasant, unlikeable and unattractive characters who so disliked and resented each other....all that anger and contempt from everyone... from the weird maid to the increasingly odd and wooden Ms Kidman. The only amusing parts were the dialogue between the detective and the local Policemen : though even that seemed to have been based on the antics of (the wonderful) Melissa McCarthy in a similar part.

Mustn't forget the dancing - now if that had occupied at least 55 minutes of every episode, it would have been worth recommending.

Kept going to find out whodunit, but …….. how on earth did two main characters finish up in London Zoo? And I couldn’t make out what nationality Nicole Kidman was supposed to be, she sounded terribly British at times although it was never mentioned. Beautiful scenery though.

Nannan2 Tue 17-Sept-24 12:13:58

Not been pulled in by the hype on this, and not sure i will now, i saw the listing but i thought it was a film, but if its a series, & it drags on i probably wont bother.I watched 2nd series of The Teacher other night, with Kara Tointon & will Mellor, quite good, but not as good as first series of The Teacher with Sheridan Smith i thought.I take it theyre going to do more of these 'Teacher' series depicting different people in different situations?British drama is usually good- i saw first episode of 'The wives' last night but dont know if you can stream & binge watch the rest?

MissInterpreted Tue 17-Sept-24 12:28:21

Finished it and found it all a bit 'meh'. Couldn't really take to any of the main characters at all. I would love to watch Slow Horses (really enjoyed the books on which it is based) but it seems you need to subscribe to Apple TV - is that the only way to watch it?

JdotJ Tue 17-Sept-24 15:20:43

I watched all 6 eps on Sunday

Loved it

JdotJ Tue 17-Sept-24 15:26:18

Sorry, pressed send before finishing.

Part of the reason I loved it was the gorgeous scenery.
Despite it being set on the island of Nantucket, it wasn't filmed there.

It was filmed in Chatham, Cape Cod where a few years ago myself and my husband holidayed for a week. It was such a beautiful place.
Our 2nd week we stayed at Hyannis Port and did head across to Nantucket on a 2 hour ferry crossing.

The aerial views in the prog are of Nantucket, the charming high street etc

Parsley3 Tue 17-Sept-24 17:54:08

I watched it all and it was a bit ham to be fair. The French woman with the terrible hair style was my least favourite character but I did like the police officer and the detective. 7/10 from me.
Sambre now. That is worth a few hours of my time.

NotSpaghetti Tue 17-Sept-24 18:53:51

Ha ha Nannan2 - I didn't know there was any hype!
If I'd spotted hype I might not have started it!

grin

Coolgran65 Wed 18-Sept-24 01:08:54

I though Nicole Kidman was very wooden.
Loved the male lead.
Loved the dancing.
Amelia was beautiful.
Thought the 'groom' was a weak character.
However, yes, thoroughly enjoyable tosh.

NotSpaghetti Wed 18-Sept-24 09:55:22

I think Nicole Kidman is always wooden. She is usually given the same role in films.

twinnytwin Wed 18-Sept-24 10:56:20

We did watch it all just to find how Who Dun It, but very disappointed all in all. I love a murder, but this was confusing.

JaneJudge Sun 22-Sept-24 16:24:38

I quite liked it but found the London zoo thing baffling grin

JaneJudge Sun 22-Sept-24 16:25:18

unless it was because it was alluded to that Nicole Kidman, the Australian actress was British lol
