Anyone watching this? I have only seen episode 1 but I'm enjoying it more than Series 1 which starred Sheridan Smith. I don't like her for some reason.

Series 2 is a completely different story, has a good cast and is well acted and so far, so good.

MissAdventure Wed 11-Sept-24 10:28:17

Yes!!
My neighbour told me she had watched the first episode, and it sounded so good that I watched episode two last night.

The only problem I had was hearing it properly blush

I had the tv blaring, but still couldn't work out what was said a lot of the time.

Yes, I'm enjoying it too. Can't yet work out the tangled thread of how the husband got involved and now the best friend is in on the act as well.

Turn on the subtitles MissAdventure!

MissAdventure Wed 11-Sept-24 10:43:16

Oh yes, I must ask someone to do that I don't know how to.

I'm going to lose interest if I start not quite understanding what's going on.

My neighbour altered the settings last night, and has reduced the background noise, which seems to have helped.
Subtitles would be better still.

MissAdventure - do you know how to get the "settings" menu up on your screen?

MissAdventure Wed 11-Sept-24 11:13:54

No, I'm ashamed to say I don't.
I know. I know.
It really annoys people.

Have you had your hearing tested?

Athrawes Wed 11-Sept-24 11:28:59

I find this Series irritating for some reason - but I can't stop watching it!!!!!

MissAdventure Wed 11-Sept-24 11:30:57

Yes,and I'm deaf as a post!
I had aids fitted, and was told "Any problems, just call into the clinic on a Wednesday, and you can get batteries, too.

Then covid came, then I was trying to work wearing the new aids, my glasses, a face mask, and began to not feel well, generally.
Then my eyes got really sore, and then they boarded up the clinic and closed it.

So, it is on my to-do list to sort out the aids again, and persevere with them.

It's a long to-do list, though.

MissAdventure have you got a subtitles button on your remote?

MissAdventure Wed 11-Sept-24 12:07:54

Yes, I have somewhere, but I can't see it. grin
My eyesight isn't that great, and the tv remote is worn, as its years old.

The thing is, none of these issues are a problem, ordinarily, because I'm not really a tv watcher, and nobody really speaks to me, so being deaf isn't a big deal.

It's just that I realised last night that I could only hear about 30 percent of what was being said.

Sub titles make a huge difference. We always use them if we can and probably couldn’t do without them now. Why do they always mumble and why the need for such loud music on so many programmes.
I think there is a button on the handset to put it on and sub titles now just appear. Like magic 🪄

As to hearing aids if you havnt had an appointments since before Covid it’s probably time for another one. Your ears may need hoovering. It’s surprising quite how much stuff lurks in them. The clinic or Hospital should do that.

X post. MissA

Only allowed to talk about one problem at my docs, so the hearing keeps getting pushed down to the bottom of the list.
Its certain frequencies I can't hear, so I presume everyone on this programme must be speaking at those frequencies.

Ha! We're the same. I got annoyed about these children not looking much like children. And they weren't likeable. I don't think any of them are likeable. Maybe they're not supposed to be likeable .

But I'm hooked and looking forward to tonight

I'm just disappointed that one can't binge watch. I get impatient having to wait a day. How I used to manage waiting a week like we did in the olden days I'll never know.

And that's so infuriating. Can you book a double appointment? I know some doctors in our area do this so you can discuss more than one problem.

MissAdventure Wed 11-Sept-24 12:27:44

Our clinic is now going to be a block of "apartments".
Such a shame, it was a lovely old building.

MissAdventure Wed 11-Sept-24 12:30:25

I'm having issues with my platelets at the minute.
High or low, ir something.
Also have a liver scan, an xray, and a rheumatologist appt coming up.
So, more than enough for now.

Rekarie Wed 11-Sept-24 12:52:09

I hope all goes well with your scans and x rays . Definitely sounds more than enough to be dealing with.

MissAdventure Wed 11-Sept-24 12:56:57

Thanks.
They'll be fine, I'm sure, they're more of a sort of maintenance thing than urgent problems.

I went be able to hear any results, anyway grin
